bought a ton of booze last night of amazon prime. the guy that brought it made a mistake with the delivery and put he couldn't find the location; meaning he marked it as undelivered. got a refund today of the full $200 and still got to keep the liquor.

i'm on the come up

I finally tested negative for COVID this morning. Ironic though that I didn't get a confirmed infection until three years after the first big lockdown in early 2020.

And congrats Squee on your soon-to-be parenthood.

No, he said in his video that there was a possible major catastrophe in history that reset civilization and I reacted with, very possibly multiple catastrophes. *big brain*

Took my saxophone in for servicing. Expected to have to leave it for a week because theyโ€™re busy. Was contacted within half an hour that it could be picked up.

I JUST QUIT ONE OF MY JOBS!!!!

:yeah::yeah:ย :yeah:

This story just keeps getting better.

- I neglected to mention that I "rage quit" which felt fucking awesome. Never been able to do that before, actually telling the boss off etc.ย  No negative consequences, as I believe this person has very little credibility, and I have good references going back years who know me better. Also my opinion should really mean something to them as I'd been there so long, and I tell it like I see it.

- The so-called boss then decided to terminate rather than let me complete my two weeks, which was a much better payout as it's based on an average of the past 8 weeks and I worked way more hours during that period, whereas I only had a few hours' worth of work to complete now. :nelson:ย  Just got my payout the other day and it was a hefty sum! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ

- Had an interview for another job the very same day lol, and got it. I don't have to start the new job for another couple of weeks so I am enjoying my sweet-ass free-ass time!

- Other things seem to be falling into place. It's as if that job was dragging my whole life down and I couldn't see it because I always thought it was a "chill job". And now that the weight has been lifted, new and exciting things keep happening :catrecline:

it's all connected man. I too went through a job change last year, and know exactly what you're talking about. I didn't want to accept the fact that I was stuck in a bad job with a bad boss, because the alternative of being unemployed is always far scarier. and I didn't realize at the time just how much of that negativity from the bad job was bleeding into my personal life. we try and tell ourselves we can separate our work selves from our personal life, but we all know that's not how it works. that work bullshit keeps lingering on in our heads after we clock out, and it affects us. yeah after I changed jobs, I noticed other positive life things started to occur... I'm just trying to keep riding that wave as long as possible. try and tell myself that I worked so many shit jobs in the past, it's finally time that good ones start appearing. and there's a lot to be said about the power of positive thinking, trying to get as much clarity and reality in your headspace as possible. once you can find that then sooner or later, you'll find yourself on a much better life path.

I hear ya. I think a lot of that is very true for people with fulltime "career" jobs. I'm lucky to work a few different jobs/gigs, so this was just one of them. But considering how few hours it added up to in a week, it felt like a full time job. Constantly having to be in the loop with emails and shit. Even actively trying to ignore the emails, only checking the work email a couple times a week, it would still weigh on me. The amount of mental space this job occupied was vastly disproportionate to the actual amount of work I was being paid to do there. I always knew this to be true, but didn't realize what it would actually FEEL like to have the burden removed. It's like a fresh breeze has blown through my whole life. I cleaned a bunch of shit out of the storage room, I'm dieting/exercising and dating again, and just found a studio space to rent after being on a waitlist for 2 years. I have money in the bank. And got this new job starting up later this month. Fuck yeah. Might as well share the positivity since most of the time I'm a crabby old cunt around here

gonna have almost 3 months vacations in August and come back in November to do a world tour... starting in Miami, going down the Atlantic coast with overnight in Brazil, then further south with over night in Argentina, turning back up north in Antarctica in direction to Los Angeles, from there to Hawaii with an over night as well, then to New Zealand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapur, รndia, etc...

I do mind u asking...

Spoiler

lolz they called it technical stage staff... I work backstage in production shows moving in and out props and shit during the shows... I assist light and sound techs and also set up small lounge bands on the venues around the ship... easy life... can't complain at all...

can't be arsed to move to a higher position like sound tech (which is in what I graduate) cause the pay is not good enough for the headaches that those positions have and the company is very understaffed so they put one light/sound tech running 3 or 4 venues when it should be 1 tech per venue...

found some underwear at the back of the drawer that are basically new.ย

also, had my yearly CT Scan last week and all good news. the 2cm mass in my right kidney has not grown at all. just sitting there like a dumb bastard making me wait. and nothing else new or weird in the scan. so, that's good. not so much an achievement as good luck. i guess i'll have to live a little longer into the coming dystopia.ย

been planning a ferry trip to the Isle of Man for some time now and i've managed to dig out my dad's old Panasonic walkman โค๏ธ

i'm planning to do a bunch of different things when i get there, but for some reason the actual ~4hr ferry trip is what i'm looking forward to the most. i haven't used this thing for years but it works just fine. i have cassette issues of recent WARP/Ninja Tune albums (some of which are still sealed!) and all i can say is, why let them collect dust for years instead of actually using them? might be risky but YOLO. maybe not take SAW2.

i know! it's such a shame. all these new cassette/vinyl releases yet no-one's manufacturing decent equipment to play it back. looks like it's just the same with turntables/tape decks as it is with portable walkmans.

i hope you can find one bro. stick at it ๐Ÿ‘

This! I was in the same situation and the amount of shit I brought home was killing my girlfriend. She thought I hated her when in reality I just hated my job.
