Musical caffeine

As I left for work this morning, weary from it being far too early and being a long week, with my phone on shuffle this track comes on and it feels like someone's thrown a bucket of cold water in my face -

So what tracks get you physically pumped ? Tracks that somehow seem to transcend just being music and make you feel like you've downed a half dozen espressos (or similar, less legal, alternatives). Not necessarily fast songs, just ones that give you a much needed adrenaline push and make you feel like you can take on the world with a manic grin on your face.

There's two other tracks that seem to have a similar effect on me. The first is We Have Explosive (Part 4), I can't find the full track on Youtube but most of that version is featured on this live set. It's the bit at 1:45 that gets me going every time:

And finally this track, when the beat kicks in at 0:48 I feel like my adrenal gland has just exploded -

TL;DR? Fuck you.

Good one, I'm recently finding out tracks that have that effect as well (only in my case it is mostly fast pumped up tracks)

But when I need some manic energy, before going out to drink or something, this one does the trick for me since the day it came out, every time. Just hearing the part from 0:53 till 1:12 makes me the most hyper 12 year old kid over and over again.

And in a period where I had to commute for an hour and a half in the early, early morning in the winter and feeling completely worn out, I listened to Sunn 0)))'s Monoliths & Dimensions. When that album was over it felt as if I had 3 hours extra sleep, totally refreshing.

Actually that Alle Gegan Alle reminded me a couple more - Though these are more slow burning buildups than instant hits (so maybe more 'Musical Ginseng'). There's one that we're probably all aware of the remix but it's the original version that seems to have the most raw energy -

The second, I wouldn't normally listen to like kind of jauntily-angled-hats-with-skinny-jeans-and-ironic-tshirt type music but there's just something about it that really picks me up before leaving for a night out -

Nice, I never bothered to listen to the original Krieger track, thanks!

The second track also reminds me of another one:

And I forgot to mention my biggest surrogate caffeine/speed rush (next to the afx track above): Untilted.

Talking of Speedy J, that Loudboxer album is probably exactly what I'm getting at but in longform album form . What a bloody rush that one is !

I made a mix CD years and years ago and my wife (then gf) said she'd throw this track on often in the morning on her commute:

I've noticed that electronic music tends to suit me better for the evening - i.e. staying awake while driving or before going out. Guitar based stuff or less frantic but still "epic" stuff works for me better in the morning.

moar:

^I have this album on cassette and it sounds fucking awesome through my old stereo
