I've never understood why people voluntarily watch ASMR videos. It seems like a pretty effective mental torture device. It's extremely irritating watching people take 45 minutes to do something that could easily be done in about one minute. Whenever I watch them and read the things people say about the video, I just get that feeling that this is what the decay of humanity looks like. It's like people have gotten so bored with their lives that they're just zoning out and finding ways to trigger chemical reactions to the most mundane things.

so there are people who really like the sound of a paintbrush being ruffled by fingers, but instead of owning a brush and playing with it, they watch youtube videos until the effect "wears off"? l

To be fair, that does make sense in a way. I would compare it to the fact that people can't tickle themselves, it just doesn't work. Now, what percentage of people (men) listen to it more because a woman is using the brush, I couldn't say, but I'm sure it's high. Context is key. Doesn't mean it's sexual per se though, but to say that the gender isn't relevant to the audience is naive. Most people like the opposite sex. Biology.

As for ASMR in general, in primary school, I remember getting super strong, almost drug-like chills when certain teachers would read to the class. Male teachers too. It just has a lot to do with the texture of their voice but also in their cadence and their self-confidence. A self-confident person tends to make people feel secure, I think. I would also get it from music with headphones, which I think 100% explains my interest and approach in making music. I focus a lot on sound designy stuff like texture, atmosphere and feeling above melody, which holds me back in a lot of ways. But it's what I chase. Them chills. It's an obsession.

Yeah I get the ASMR which is completely non-sexual but there's definitely a fine line between that and sexual (e.g. yeah, it's always with female voices). Would be cool if there was porn that was more subtle and ASMR oriented although it might ruin the non-sexual aspect of ASMR for me.

Otherwise Falling Riszlas from the latest Actress (which was kind of weak otherwise) hits a g-spot for me.

Looking back at these earlier posts, it reminds me that April thru May 2013 was kind of a weird time for WATMM.

Anyway, five years later the second half of 1 1 is still gives me the 'orn.

This thread is a mess: ASMR, frisson, sexually arousing sounds and hypnotic music are all separate things but here they have all been conflated and confused with one another

The worst part is, you don't know what's what to whom.

(I feel like I'm about to be pulled over by the language police again for that previous sentence, but you got the point.)
