Happy Music 4 Happy People

Recommended Posts

All the music I like is sad/melancholy. Sometimes I need something happy (like monday morning). What are my options?

in reality I guess I do find a lot of aphex twin music happy in its playfulness. Even if it's kind of manic/disturbing at times I find it happier than BOO BOO BWEEE BOO ridiculous arpeggios and stuff that 'happy' music is supposed to have. If Owl City turned out to be a parody/satire of that it'd be kind of genius actually but I don't think the dude is that clever

Edit: esp. that jpop is like the happy happy cult

Dunno if you're looking for a bunch of crazy happy shit or not, but I like to keep my Monday mornings chill with Joao Gilberto.

His 1973 self-titled is my goto breakfast album. His other albums are slightly more peppy if that track was too dull for you.

I'd been in a similar depressing-music-loving boat for the past 7 years or so, mostly because most happy music sounds terrible to me. A lot of international music does a good job of being both happy and not cheesey-as-shit though. Highlife from Ghana and Bossa Nova from Brazil are my favorite not-depressing genres.
