so i did a thing

for reasons i can't remember i decided to put all of the interesting info gleaned from the ama into a mind map. it quickly spiraled out of control.

it is now a gigantic unwieldy beast, barely fit for human perusal.

bearing that in mind, if anyone wants to see it, i will post a copy. i did it with mindmup, a browser based mind map software that integrates with google drive.

i will share the google drive file, but i could also export a freemind or xmind compatible file if anyone wants that. but most of the detailed information is attached to the mindmup nodes in the form of html attachments, and these get stripped out upon export. in other words, the freemind/xmind exports are only half the picture.

anyway, here is the mindmup file

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3WY64FPgIsNbHV1Y2xoaWpiN1k/edit?usp=sharing

now anyway keep in mind this was originally just for me to keep track of things for myself... and it soon became clear that i made an unfortunate choice with the mind map format... it would probably have been better to put it in a spreadsheet or even just a word document. but i went in too deep and couldn't turn back. if there is an easy way to strip the data and transfer to a more palatable format, i am all ears. it's easy enough to get the textual data out but beyond that i'm without clue.

ps. jasondonervan if you need help with that document i obviously have a lot of free time

what society has become

A century or two ago we'd be gossiping about how the lord farted at dinner, or bragging about how the lady's maid told us we'd done a good job washing the sheets with similar reverence. Truly, society has devolved.

^ Interesting stuff there from Polymershapes, I like it...

I'm nearly there, 25ish pages to go... listening to the last Webcast while chugging away, fits like a glove :music:

I've been backtracking questions and answers to fit where they make the most sense - e.g. where Sean might have answered someone's questions, then 3 pages later Rob picks up the same stuff to answer, collate it together, that sort of thing. Just trying to cut down on unnecessary duplication more than anything.

Some of you have been murder for where you've bounced questions back and engaged a little bit of threaded discussion.. then other people chime in, then we get responses to that... I've really had to pick through the bones so everything makes sense! Worst offender has to be Jev who has caused me the odd headache or two - but to be fair, he/she asked some decent questions which yielded interesting replies from S&R, so can't really criticise too harshly for that :nyan:

Seeing the sheer size of the document grow over the last day or so really highlights how the 'chre answered practically everything that was thrown at them - even for questions put forward during downtime (ie sleep!), they diligently picked them up where they left off the night before. In future, any AMA that I hear of that's taking place where it's like "<artist> will be available for an AMA for the next two hours" will forever be deemed an inferior effort compared to the mighty AAA

I don't see Lars von Trier in the list?

Yeah it's only stuff they said they liked -- or at least most of the time it was lol.. there might be the odd thing they said as a joke.. childrens programs and whatnot

how could i forget the r8... hmm. did they say they actually used hyperprism for anything? i thought that was the one he got rid of because fatboy slim was using it or something ridiculously 90s like that. sorry i have been running on little sleep, i am sure i missed bunches, especially in the last 40 or so pages compared to the previous.. a second pass should probably happen before i attempt a final draft. thanks for pointing stuff out

he said they at least dabbled in it, i don't remember the exact quote. I could be wrong. the R8 though certainly, you probably just forgot it because they mentioned it more than any other piece of gear, sometimes the most obvious things are the first to be missed :)
