ars is really the only source covering this hidden, creepy side of Google these days. Every other tech site just seems to reprint press-releases.

that said, the nexus is still the one to get since you're being subsidized by google, and it will be best supported by alternatives like Ubuntu and Cyanogen.

Whoa… It's only after watching that video I've realized they've forced google+ integration with youtube. The fuck is this shit? Google is seriously starting to become just as annoying as Facebook.

At this rate it won't be long before it will be required to have personal spy vans watching you, by all the social media services, before you can access the internet.

Fuck modern life.

just picked up a nexus 5 last week.

Quite like it, given its my first step into having a "smart phone".

Had to disable loads of shite that was automatically turned on though. For example....

It automatically gets me to create a Google+ account, then for every photograph I take it automatically uploads it to google drive (that I didn't even know I had).

Also, rather than sending text messages like normal phones, everything goes through Google Hangouts. So google can now read all my text messages! Apparently there are alternative Apps I can download in order for me to send a text message without using google as a carrier. Amazing.

Fuck Google, do you want to see me burn?

Yes, that's exactly what they want.

Once you're beaten down and crumpled, they'll rape your tear ridden body.

Just for kicks.

google buys deepmind, artificial intelligence startup, for $400 million

At that time, Page said Google search would be "included in people's brains," according to Steven Levy's 2011 book about the company, In the Plex.

"When you think about something and don't really know much about it, you will automatically get information," Page explained. Brin saw Google as a way to "augment your brain ... you can have computers that pay attention to what's going on around them and suggest useful information."

"Eventually, you'll have the implant, where if you think about a fact, it will just tell you that answer," Page added in the book.

this is great. we might soon have to do away with thinking and always "search" for answers to everything

This is for facts: could be quite useful - analyzing/compiling the data into a larger body of work will still require traditional thinking.

Besides, we are still light years from doing anything like what Page/Brin are thinking about.

You can change your google account name away from the real one now. I just did, it's been pissing me off for soo long that i rarely used their service, and certainly never made my g+ posts public, because of the fact that i had to have my real searchable name associated with anything i posted. fuck dat shit.

I can't say anything unfortunately, but if i told you guys it would blow your mind and Godel would come in here saying that its obviously not a true story because the implications are so fucking ridiculous. Sorry i know its an asshole move to drop something like that and not give details. I put out an inquiry about disgruntled ___ employees who were interested in blowing the whistle on either corporate misconduct or individual employee breaches of privacy and I was contacted by someone who told me a bunch of crazy shit

i've started a love/hate relationship with google since ever.

i hate the way their cookies are invading my private search history but i love gmail and drive, such amazing tools that i can't get rid off now, they are winning all the ladies with those sunglasses.

unfortunately they're evil, but i've found some tiny smart things to avoid few problems

in an utopia mood, i'm still convinced that a large amount of people are still smart enough to stand against this leveling down and google in long term wont win as easily as everybody and their mum pretend
