lol

high five eugene, I got a big bag full of nothing as well. Though my Christmas-ignorant wife later ordered me a glass to replace my favorite glass that our kid had broken (however she only ordered it after I specifically requested it).

Keep in mind the age variation for some of us on this forum. Many still live with their parents, others are parents themselves.

I got a trip to Taiwan to visit my rents and then to this beach south of where my parents live in Taiwan (also a two night layover with my friend in LA)

itunes gift card $15

a bunch of cooking shit from ikea (garlic press, grill pan, cutting board, potato peeler, couple other things; this is all very exciting to me)

a 40 dollar full print t-shirt

plenty of other things not technically for Christmas but still free from my parents

Another question: what did you get for others this Christmas? I got my mother an iPhone case from charity: water, my sister makeup, my dad scotch

Oh, I got Cadbury and 40 bucks from my grandmother who also came to visit Taiwan this year from Scotland. Also an unopened gift from her, we're still gonna open them, but probably just something small.

you guys get a ridiculous amount of presents for grown men. i dunno why it seems weird to me though.

I'm a 27 year old who went of my way to tell my loved ones that I didn't need or want anything that wasn't practical. It worked, my gifts were:

New tires for my car

Beard trimmer

Book about historical US land surveys

DVD player with HDMI cable

Sweat resistant USSF sanctioned undershirt

Socks

White v-neck shirts

Oh...and a lot of chocolate

Nikon DSLR.

Golf bag.

Golf glove.

Few games inc. Would I Lie To You, Pub Quiz and chilli chocolate challenge.

Socks, boxers and sweets.

Squeezy nose that dispenses shower gel.

Also went to Ikea yesterday and bought myself new furniture to put my turntable and amp on top of, and my records inside.

Very lucky.

I'm lucky enough to have a large family, a number of household celebrations due to divorce (an American tradition sadly) and my girlfriend is from a large Vietnamese family, so we both did well this year. I spent 99% of my gift purchases on the kids and her though.

gave and received nadda.

It would make more sense were you to get involved in this christmas gift giving thing to give the people money so that they can use it when things are cheaper after christmas rather than wasting 15-20% more by buying it in the lead up to christmas.

Sorry, i'm not trolling your thread. sorry. back to your fun. [-;

Oh wait shit, I didn't get my sister makeup, that was the original plan. Ended up getting her a full-print london bus belly shirt and some pendant thing.

I've thought this too, and often I do end up getting money which is great, but there is the idea that you can buy shit for people that they would never buy themselves even if they wanted to. Just stuff that you're like "aw man, I have to be a responsible adult so I guess I'll just have to use this on gas even though I would MUCH rather have a Volca." Additionally, it means they don't have to do the shopping, and maybe you'll get them something that they wouldn't have thought of buying but they actually really wanted (for me: my mom bought me cooking supplies and I was like "oh shit yeah! I didn't think of that!"; it's p cheap in Taiwan so I'm also going to go out and get more, wouldn't have thought of it without that). I've changed my opinions on gift giving: there are many advantages to it compared to money, although money is nice too.
