I am now convinced that capitalism is evil

aren't all the billionaires buying land in high elevation new zealand and stuff like that? building their base camps..end of the world compounds and shit?

i'm sure they've all got plans for survival in the event of something like mega volcano or whatever... decommissioned missile silos and stuff.

the frenzy for that kind of 'billionaire doomsday prepper' probably hasn't really kicked off in a noticeable way yet but i bet in the next decade it'll be more obvious with things in the headlines about land grabs in different parts of the world and whatever. isolated places, private security and off grid set ups.

theyve started.  the worst part is, they haven't started at all.  the proletariat has been made to start.  they aren't laying a finger on even a single drop of cement or bricks used to create these things.  they aren't screwing in a single screw or painting a brush of paint whatsoever.  they just receive.

communism NOW

honest question here

what if communism created ludicrously elaborate yachts

like, what if a hundred years after every government on earth read your post and went 'yeah, communism now!' and everyone was happy and well fed and mortality rates for every person of every color and creed were all low and free education for everyone and then like, everyone looked around at their communist lands and went 'yeah this is great but also why don't we all have some communist megayachts'

like, would that be okay? maybe that should be the carrot at the end of the stick to tempt the capitalist world: one day we can all share megayachts.

because honestly that megayacht looks totally insane and i kinda want to ride on it

^ is that how it ends for humanity? in the not too distant future, the last humans will be the tech bro billionaires, bobbing around in the ocean, floating luxuriously in their hi-tech islands, while the rest of us get wiped out from the mega typhoon caused by other oil crazed gazillionaires dicking up this planets environment. sounds about right to me.

Waterworld lol

Is having a megayacht really that necessary though?

not even as a primary residence. there's boats, sport fishing boats, cruising yachts then there's the ridiculously huge mansion on the water these people buy. it's crazy. they're so resource intensive. not just to power them but to build them. all the wood in them is generally teak. which means they go out to the rain forest and take entire trees out it to make one boat. it's small level deforestation just to make the deck of one of those mega yachts.

even a 100ft cruising yacht is like 1 whole huge teak tree..

boats burn a lot of diesel. they're not efficient.

but i doubt all the mega yachts in the world cause as much damage as all the commercial fishing fleets

there is no problem with megayachts, they're super cool and I want to spend a vacation in one.  i also want to spend time in an ecologically efficient but slow ocean liner.  anyway, communism is not against technologies like that.  it's about to each according to their need, from each according to their abilities, abolition of the state, money, private property, etc.

in a communist society i'd be happy to work on software to assist in building mega-yachts, or whatever else.  but in a capitalist society where people are dying of starvation, not only is it unethical, but it's a visual reference explaining exactly why those people are dying of starvation.

megayachts under capitalism are privately owned but publicly made by the proletariat.  we want publicly owned, publicly made megayachts.  same goes for space travel. completely FOSS technology anyone is allowed to replicate, no private shit.

anti-capitalist/pro-socialist movement is an info op to sabotage dems

US democrats are a far right capitalist party.  fuck them.  yeah, anti-capitalists and socialists do not support democrats.  is this news?  as for a centuries old political economic tradition merely being an "info op to sabotage one political party of one country in the world", what a laughably historically ignorant statement

explain why this is the fallacy you're claiming it is or don't bother posting about fallacies

you act like the two can't both be true. false dichotomy. anti-capitalism/pro-socialism can both be a centuries old economic tradition, and be an info op designed to sabotage american dems

your statement "socialism is an info op designed to sabotage american dems" is incorrect in that case.  you should rewrite your sentence as "there are info ops meant to sabotage american dems, and some use socialist ideas to do so" and then you won't have to complain about people pointing out how your incorrectly worded statements are incorrect

Oh, I know. My friend is working for a nautical producer that decided a couple of years ago to redesign their entire product portfolio, for which he invited me along, but I reluctantly declined. Basically a project that will be going on for the next several years. Apart from a model or two that have electrical propulsion and recycled materials, there's very little consideration for environment in this. As you go up the price range, materials become more expensive and "luxurious", as you said, teak wood for entire decks (some have multi-level decks), bridges, interiors, etc. One-piece plastic hulls, "performance" models with high-power engines that consume enormous amounts of fuel.

There's also sonars. Sea mammals that use echolocation are avoiding huge shipping lanes because of sonar noise pollution that affected their behavior to the point that it restricts their mating and eating behavior. The powerful submarine and military ship active sonars are so powerful that it disrupts whale communication and life patterns. You can find plenty of maps of international oceanic shipping lanes on the internet which gives you a pretty clear idea of how the living space for these animals is isolated and cut-off.
