Surprised to find that after a search I couldn't find any thread about him here. Personally I think he's a genius and is incredibly underappreciated... he's also got such a diverse and extensive repertoire. Anyone who's into Aphex Twin, mu-ziq, or IDM in general should definitely give him a listen.

^ That track is defiantly brill. Besides the amazing textures & whatnot I love how subtly the beatless parts are in 7 (the number of magic, der) and woven seamlessly into the straight-4 body of the track.

I'm in the same boat as murph - besides absolutely loving the above track I was a bit underwhelmed by the rest of the album. Any other albums/projects by him you'd recommend mixl?

He is the best.

I love all of his aliases.

He makes so much stuff, is insane.

this is damn good

keep them coming

what would be the top 3 album of him?

Ok, let's do this.

Top, definetly "Virtual state":

2nd "The number of magic", just because of that one track.

3d something off his other aliases, maybe one of the UPR comps:

^ UPR vol.3 other really good tracks on there are:

The third man - This pill

Extended family - The future (turn it back)

Other nice stuff by him:

Yeh, I like some of his music. For some reason his music feels really accessible to me: warm, exploring, deep and honest.

Good music.

whoops, totally forgot about this thread.

Herr Jan is right, Reality Net is one of my favorite tracks by him. Also that video is fucking wicked.

His Sandoz output is also really good:

I also agree that all the tracks shared by MIXL2 are great. Here are some others:

In terms of albums, Virtual State is really good... But my personal favorite of his is his first one, "Disposable Half Truths..." It has to be the most insanely weird and trippy set of songs composed by man to date.

Plasticity and International Language. Loved them. Low cool. The 70 Billion ppl on earth, where' they hiding? Soulenoid, the last track on Plasticity, was the bomb.

Also that Album with the pyramid, forgot name. Edit: body and soul... It had that kind of atomic bomb track which was revolutionary back in the days.

Cabaret Voltaire - What is real: http://youtu.be/hvZ9vH6D74A

Soulenoid : Cabaret Voltaire:

Love Cabaret Voltaire, I prefer Richard's solo work but they're wicked too. I know it's their most popular song but I really love Sensoria.

On that note, any Throbbing Gristle fans out there? They're one of my favorite bands of the 20th century.

Heard this one on a Totally Extinct Enormous Dinosaurs mix recently. Now that I look it up I'm shocked it's from 1988. I just assumed it was a recent release.

Yeah he didn't really do a lot of vocal stuff past 1990, not at all in fact. Nice track though.

The man is a national treasure and there should be a museum in Sheffield just for Cabs/RHK worship.

Love the way his music straddles that TG/Industrial Records/mid 70's mind-rape, through to acid house & the soundtrack of many a special-fx fueled free party.

You cant talk RHK w/out referencing Cabaret Voltaire,,,,,,Voice of America has a hidden groove in among all that distortion & apart from saying "buy everything he was involved with" with thats pretty much the best advice. You'll have fun in the process. From VOA check Disposable Half Truths for the 1st track "Synesthesia" alone. Fast forward a few years and he put out some incredible gear. Virtual State & The Number of Magic as mentioned. The Sandoz guise also nailed that dubby/ambient house sound. Digital Lifeforms, Intensely Radioactive, Every Man Got Dreaming & Dark Continent are all outstanding. Electronic Eye's Closed Circuit is relentlessly good too, with a sound thats been a bit more fucked.

There's a cut-off point round the millennium imho, but the man made at least 15-20 albums of complete & utter GENIUS.
