"The pairing, or "opto-musical agglomerate", as they would have it, of Dan Hayhurst (audio) and Reuben Sutherland (visual) that make up Sculpture have a new album, Membrane Pop, on the way from Software. It's out on May 12 and sees them continuing their fluid approach to experimental pop, with Hayhurst saying: "I'm aiming to make a coherent, adventurous electronic pop record with its own voice and identity. I don't think experimental music has to be dark, difficult or joyless. I try to make something playful, and maybe a little absurd." And amply exemplifying this is the first cut from the record, 'Polymorphic Operator' - watch that above, and get hold of it from Software on release."

i've enjoyed past recordings from them. i like the pretty pictures on the plates when they r spinning round; the videos - the general feeling of the project is quite warm, with clickety-clanks and pop and fiz and pleesing colors and noises

reminds me of a more psychedelic stockhausen & walkmen. the overly clean squarewave tones sort of ruin the illusion for me a little bit, but it's nice.

oh' right, i can definitely hear that in the sounds and at the same time their holistic identity is very unique in many respects. i've been following right along. i really like them
