I have no idea how you keep track of all those samples

Yeah that xrns is OCD, it started out as a collection of recordings from a eurorack modular set-up that I cut up, wanting to use parts of it in different tracks. Instead of exporting the sounds I ended up riffing on a loop, kept on processing and adding stuff :) . Probably a more minimal approach, focusing on using what works and throwing away what doesn't would benefit any musicality, because now it is is a lot of alternating beats without to much tension to keep it interesting. 

 

What helps me keep track besides listening is sample names, naming the tracks and using clues in the pattern descriptions to the left of the matrix. Also there are some ordering tools which I find useful like 'count occurrences' and 'organize notes'. With count occurrences you can see how many times you've used a sound in a songfile hence the numbers between brackets in every sample name. Administration is the opposite of music maybe, but helpful getting more oversight.
