RIP(ley)

An amazing inspiration for me - when I was younger I used to write stories based around the Alien world, took books out of the library with his artwork in and created my own extended universe based upon his drawings.

PS novels not based on this

NSFW

Out of all the art Giger had produced, you chose that one?

He looked pretty much dead in recent pictures

still a great loss

I visited his only german exhibition last year in Hamburg, and it was fantastic, despite the fact that the place was very small. They shown movie stuff from the Alien set after shooting all scenes, with the bulldozers destroying the walls of the spaceship. It made my heart bleed seeing all those extremely elaborated settings being treated like waste. Giger himself made the video about that art massacre.

His work was part of my earliest art education, next to Picasso and Dalí.

He will be missed.

Sad news, RIP. Maybe I never had the full picture, but I felt his work played a big part (no pun intended) in the fight against the PMRC back in the 80s, albeit unwittingly.

And of course, his designs for Alien were ingenious.

Hope I can check out his bar at some point in my life.

Damn. Bad news.

Saw the "Jodorowsky's Dune" documentary recently. Was interesting to see how Giger's art was propelled into the scifi movies world. Definitly a recommended watch for anyone interested.

R.I.P

I just dread the day when threads like these appear with the featured artists' names on them.

RIP, an exceptional talent.

Does anyone know what came first, the Aphex Twin song or this piece by Giger? Did Aphex get the song title from him, or was the song made first then Cunningham asked him for ideas?
