New alias / project by Danny : Occult Orientated Crime

"Occult Orientated Crime is my new ambient nu-age synth project. More then one hour of
hardcore spaced out synth music recorded above Kurt Russels winebar at the haunted
Union Hotel Los Alamos California ---- > Its time to hit the vaporizer
Listen to and download the 70 minute performance on soundcloud:

I will perform a new OCCULT ORIENTATED CRIME performance in
Rotterdam Holland on the 26th of June at the cult Noodlebar Modular Synthesizer event
currated by modular synth don Mono-Poly more info here "

It was time for another ambient project by him, loving most of those to death. Perfect for sunday listening. I'm probably going to see this show in Rotterdam, anyone else in?

I'd love to go to a Legowelt gig in the near future, but the Rotterdam gig is not an option, unfortunately.

Lovely stuff in that performance, btw. Love it around the 17 mins mark! :D

Ian Martin and Banabila before that, also great stuff!

21:00 Ian Martin
21:45 Michel Banabila
22:30 Legowelt's Occult Orientated Crime
23:15 Sick Sticks & Whacky Wires Feat. Stanislav Mitrovic

So, better late than never, but here's the entire video of his (one-off?) performance with a great live set-up. Or as Danny would say:

"Here is a videorecording of my ambient Occult Orientated Crime live performance
a few months ago at the Noodlebar in Rotterdam. Chaos Magick Ambient nu-age freejazz Improvisation"

Thanks, will watch this!

Well, he immediately seemed to thank you in the title of this new Occult Orientated Crime release he just posted :)

It's downloadable for free, but it will also be released on tape in Japan. It should be called Obscure Occult Orientated Crime.

edit: LOL at his slippers in that picture

Pretty stoked for this thursday, he's playing his ambient Smackos style live over some obscure 70's and 80's short films from the LIMA archive. Movies like this:

He did the same with a Werner Herzog film last weekend:

If you're in Amsterdam thursday you should check this out! (It's in Trouw, from 21pm 'till 23pm)

That's cool that someone filmed the Aguirre thing. I thought about going but I really couldn't get there in time. Plus the original Popol Vuh music is untouchable, but I'll give this a listen tonight.

Wow, these sound incredible; the vibe is amazing, I'm off on some other planet in a space suit, there are only two other people on the whole planet and I only see them for meals....

I guess this is a redundant question, surely the answer would have appeared in the thread if it were available, but .... has anyone talked to him about a release?

I have trouble keeping track of his aliases (even with discogs etc there always seem to be new releases I somehow miss) so I appreciate this thread!

You mean a release for this project? Not sure, but I hope he does release some of this stuff. His latest ambient release was Loch Ness (which isn't that good imo). All his earlier ambient albums are up on bandcamp though, these are my faves:

http://shop.hott.mx/album/strange-life-slr01d-the-lost-border-2008

http://shop.hott.mx/album/pmcd-001-ufo-onderzoek-1983

He's got shitloads more though, so if you haven't, good luck on the journey (make sure you read the story that every album is accompanied by :)!)

Really stoked for tomorrow, two hours of synth madness with weird cinema. All up for it!

WTF are you some sort of wizard? I missed ALL of these.

Thanks for all the infos. Also I'm not in the netherlands but I pinged some dutch friends about that show you mentioned (tomorrow night), sounds awesome.

Cool, hope to see a good turnout tomorrow!

And the wizard is Danny Wolfers, about 2/3rd of the releases on his Strange Life label has been made by himself, and then there's the countless records on other labels. It took me years to properly delve into his whole discography and it's a great trip :)

I only asked him about reissuing some records like the first House Of Jezebel 12", but he seemed to have no clue that it wasn't even available anymore. He's probably not keeping track anymore. he's too busy making music, magazines and horrible TV-shows:

Was a fun gig, the main Trouw hall was filled with chairs, but I positioned myself on the side and covered myself with cushions that were lying all around me. There were five short movies based on found footage from the 70's / 80's or older war footage. It only lasted 60+ minutes and suprisingly wasn't a full on ambient soundtrack. 60% ambient 40% loud but slow deep techno, like this (a new Legowelt track):

Nightwind Records NW001. The first Occult Orientated Crime album on Nightwind Records. Extremely trippy PRO ambient not just some jumbled up random chiliwave overcompressed 80s retro soggy biscuit jerkoff --- this is PROFESSIONAL AMBIENT - 100% psychedelic drug music with perfectly finetuned selected frequencies to alter your state of mind and take you to complete loss of subjective self-identity: the result of years of experimentation and research.
