Seeing civillians carrying around automatic rifles, with clips in, alarms even the most rational and reasonable citizens in public. I and most others are uneasy enough seeing trained law enforcement officers carrying AR-15s, at least in this country in public places. It's beyond extreme and completely needless. I say this as someone who is completely fine with hunters or rural farmers having rifles in their trucks: I've seen that in West Texas and other very sparsely populated parts of the country. I have no qualms with anyone who decides to legally carry a concealed firearm. Really bummed that the NRA wasn't behind that statement fully/retracted it/etc. Cowards. That group has lost any remote shred of legitimacy or sincerity long ago (they used to be far less political decades ago - even in the mid-90s they were much more focused on gun safety and culture, not lobbying lawmakers).
