Evening dude, cheers for checking the tracks out. Machinedrum? I don't really have much hardware, just use Ableton. I usually make stuff heavier than this but experimenting with slower melodies/loops.

I love the beats in Shell, they sound quite original and very musical. The pads add a nice atmosphere to the song, although I would have appreciate that they lead to something more solid at some time. But I like the track so and enjoyed listening to it!

I'm not so sure I dig Desire like that. The main thing which bothered me is that this main pad sounds really undefined. It could actually be the point of this sound but in combination with its quite reduced space (it sounds like it's playing in a very small room) I feel it's too much. I would have probably preferred a bigger reverb on it. Nice palette of sounds anyway, I'm looking forward to hear more stuff of yours.

Yah, Shell is cool. I also felt like Antape in that, I suppose I thought it'd be cool if it went further or exploded or shuffling sandbag chh type stuffs came in or whatever. But then after listening to it a couple few times, I think the lack of some shit pop electronic cliche drop makes this really good. The juxtaposition of simple and complex is pretty interesting and brings up a lot of tension, especially since the stage of the whole track is set quite early on.

Thanks for listening, much appreciated. I was looking to create something a bit minimal in comparison to some previous tracks so appreciate that the pads/synths are a bit weak/basic. I'm still looking for a style at the moment as you can see with the tracks below I make quite varied stuff and am just looking for a sound that I want to develop further </wankyartist>

Nice one on the reverb tip, to be honest I didn't really think about how that would effect the song (in terms of room size) so I'll think about that with future stuff!

Thanks for listening dude, trying to create stuff that I like listening too. I'm still learning and in terms of song 'composition' I should probably try to layer songs in a more normal template.

I don't really do 'drops' that often probably only in the tracks below (From Hell - 1:36 & KLG - 1:41)

Guest GateFour

hey rvll, loving shell's beat. The fact that it's so minimal made it impossible not to notice the intricacies of the percussive work. Right now I feel the track's mood is pretty even throughout and maybe (like a couple others have mentioned) it could lead up to something.

I still really like your Nils Frahm rework btw!

Thanks for listening dude, you're right the melody/synths are too simple although like you said I was trying to show a variety in the percussion. I'll look to add more variety in the actual tune next time.

Haha, thanks! The Nils track is the one that has had the most listens on my account :)

Shell is pretty interesting with its drum. What do you use as far as sequencing goes? I like its minimalist feel and how it's always on that line between pure freaky random beats and something more regular. What do you use/do for the drum sounds?

Thanks for listening man. Even when the tune is going a bit mental I try and hold it down with an 'anchor' that maintains the rest of it! In terms of the drums I just use Ableton, no special trickery.

Spent Monday making a couple of tracks. Still learning so any positive/negative feedback appreciated!

Liking Shell; reminds me of an old Disjecta track with the ring-modded bits in the percussion.

Thanks man, cheers for listening. Just checking out Disjecta now (never heard of them) and liking the aphex/minimal sound. Nice one for the recommendation.

Nice glitchiness to it. Enjoyed!

Thanks man, I've done better tracks (that are in this thread) but just trying something new. Just checking out the Plaid remix, very cool & sound quality is brilliant.
