Autechre remixes - a users guide

With Ae remixes, would love to know what remixes and edits might be buried in their radio shows – the "Dark River" is an interesting one as it seems to be just a radio rip. It's hard to tell what's a remix, what's an edit, what's just them messing about with it in the mix. If it were possible to sieve all these factors, I reckon there's probably some great stuff in their shows. But was too hard to comment on it with any authority in the Autechre remixes piece.
Hey Amen, John, really glad you dug the review of Chris Douglas. His music is great– perhaps they'll be scope to do some kind of feature on him in the future, we'll see.
Beerwolf, thanks for buying the mag. I was first introduced to the mag by seeing the cool CDs they had on the cover in WH Smith back circa 1994, with FSOL etc. I was a student at the time so I surreptitiously, uh, borrowed the cover mount CD. Went back home and listened to it and thought "I've GOT to find out more about this mag", ha.

that would be quite awesome if you did a retrospective of Dalglish and OST. How OST originally started is interesting since it sort of fit in with the 'chill out' scene more than IDM originally (i don't literally mean 'fit in' since his early stuff is still weird as fuck). I'd be happy to send you a hard copy of the Dalglish releases off my label that you might not already have (Ideom & Venoyn). I might be able to help fill in some of the holes in such a story like Ideom being originally meant as a release for Isolate Records (Wai Cheng's label that put out Vsnares first cd). Feel free to e-mail me : peterjacksonitis At gmail

I can confirm to a minor degree that many of the disengage shows weren't actually produced by Ae, only a handful. That's not to say there couldn't be Ae remixes tucked away in shows by different artists/DJs, but it's kind of a grey area that's unlikely to ever be resolved unless Sean and Rob surprise us with their own remix/edit collection (pretty unlikely)

Well, from what i recall, the Disengage shows on Kiss 102 were DJ'd by Gescom, mostly Autechre. During the AAA thread, when i ask them to ID a track played on a 1995 show, they did spot it very quickly (5 second sample), like they were actually behind the decks, they also mentionned those shows in a few interviews back in the days...well, you should ask people who recorded it/listened to it back in 1995.

I have it on fairly good authority as to who was doing what for Disengage.

Just putting it out there. I have quite a few of the remixes but not all. I would love it if someone could PM me all the remixes in flac or 320l mp3s...I did go mad doing all those Ae live masters after all :)

I messaged Yellow offering to help out with flacs from my copies but he seemed to want to source his own. That was when he first raised the idea, since then nothing. I noticed he suggested doing the same thing in another remixes thread on here last year (I think). Not that I blame him, it's a hell of a task.

I've compiled all of my stuff according to year and included the best available artwork I could find. I need to figure out the ones I'm still missing and then make sure everything is organized before I send it out

Sorry I haven't posted any updates.

Jason, you still interested in completing this with me?

@YELLOW, Jason

Colaegues, how is the work? Sorry to rush you, but it would be ubercool to listen to some new AE vibes at the beginning of 2015! Please post whatever you have. The list can always be amended!

whats the status of this thing?

Since jasondonervan has vanished from watmm (unfortunately), I'm guessing it is in limbo.

I'd still like to know what this was building up to though...

In regards to the old shows? Stick around... something may be in the pipeline in that regard... :fear:
