Someone can explain me why i've got 2 files :

cottage4 af - 8 255 Ko (8,06 Mo) - 3:31 - Aphex Twin - @320

cottage4 af 1 - 9 701 Ko (9,47 Mo) - 4:08 - AFx - @320

in all i've got 151 tracks

here a link to help me to understand:

cottage4 af.rar 16.0 Mo

https://mega.co.nz/#!ugFTRSBb!mpjaxc1T8wJNoEx8p-1ZiSyyvRiFZeea6P8tFFAxv64

They were both available for a minute or two. My guess is he uploaded the first file, noticed something was wrong then reuploaded before he removed the first version. I got both files, and couldn't tell any difference between them though. Same sound, same filesize in kb. Might be different numbers of samples, like you say.

I feel like tigercubdelay is not getting enough love in these parts.

edit: is it another quadraverb track?

Sounds very much like a Quadraverb, yeah.

179 brk 2 is clearly a Syro precursor, specifically CIRCLONT14 [152.97][shrymoming mix]. To my ears at least

The opening melodies are the same:

0:00 to 0:25 in shrymoming

0:50 onward in brk

And they have this vocal sample that seems to be used in the same way though doesn't seem to be the same sample. They even kind of end on this positive melodic note.

I think it's completely obvious, idk if anyone else mentioned

Gotta disagree with this, sounds like something made either right before or right after the fast druqks tracks, leaning towards right before due to slightly more come to daddyish harmonies(perhaps a prototype for the druqks sound) due to sound palette. The voice sample sounds much more like one of the one-offs from meltphace. I don't think it was made anywhere near shrymoming due to extensive computer editing which richard is basically allergic to this decade and while it's possible he may have picked up a vaguely similar melody 10+ years on I doubt it

I don't think he's released any songs that are post 2001 yet, all of the songs that have threads of later releases and the genesis of certain ideas seem to indicate to me that he had been sitting on and developing these sorts of structures and melodies and ideas for a lot longer than I personally could have even imagined. it's really fucking cool!

Sekonda is the absolute highlight from this batch. Total Steve Reich + AB5 feels... Couldn't ask for anything more then tracks like these. Just blown away.

And where is the Rome 2002 track (the most amazing acid ever) i bet that track alone would get him 60.000,- + on kickstarter alone!

please release Richard d James!!

That's by Squarepusher, not Aphex. Tom should upload it, yes!
I thought that was never totally confirmed, but anyway Tom jenkinson should release it then, hopefully aphex inspires other artist to do this by now!

A lot of these soundcloud trax are better than a lot of aphex his mid 90s stuff. Just really like the raw and not overproduced quality of it.

Make what you will out of this:

I'm not sure how to tell whether rich's comment is a response to just adar's comments or if it's a response to the first two comments in the chain or the last two comments in the chain. this means there are three possibilities; 1. rich is saying that he will release the track and it is not a collab 2. rich is saying it is squarepusher and it is not a collab 3. rich is saying that he will release the track and it is squarepusher.

The third possibility doesn't really make sense so there's only really two possibilities, either it's just rich's and it will be released or it's just squarepusher's. Either way I think this confirms it is by Richard or Tom.

I somehow had in mind this had been confirmed to be a squarepusher track anyway. Didn't Squarepusher play it live once..? Not that this itself would confirm it.

Anyway.. Cylob played it at his dj set at Radio Melyseg Titka back in 2003. On the official tracklist he wrote "Acid White Label".. so I guess he would know. If someone knew Chris well enough.. On the other hand I can very well imagine he wouldn't tell anyway.

I always thought that the b-side to the Acid White Label sounded like Aphex. Was there ever any confirmation of this?

Okay, I guess, I'm not the only one, who just registered to tell how much he loves the recent soundcloud uploads.. In fact I know, 'cos I've been reading this thread since last week Monday, when I woke up and the facebook-algorith told me "someone tagged aphex twin". It was that Pitchfork article and that was, when I knew that I won't do much paid work for the rest of the week.. ;)

Since there seems to be no "Introduction-thread" in this forum, I'll tell you a lil bit about my afx listening habbits, here:

I'm a big fan of his music since the Richard D James Album (favourite track: To cure a weakling child).

Little later, I must've listened to the complete backstock and some obscure tracks - everything I was able to get back then, without the interwebs.. ;)

There are phases of his musical live I like more and some, I really deeply HATE. For example, I can't listen to the SaWII-Album in complete: It's making me depressive and wanna cry.

Then again, listening to Goon Gumpas fills me with joy and love and a whole lot of more positive feelings.

The time, when I learned about Aphex Twin was some very hard time of my life: Aged 18, having huge personal problems (i won't talk about here), not knowing what to do nor what will come. Listening to the right Aphex-Tracks always gave me the warm feeling of being "home" and "understood" (I'm missing the right vocabulary..) I was missing so much, that time.

That is, why I did a lot of thinking about my life when listening to Aphex Twin (or Boards of Canada or Plaid..) and many of the conclusions are still valid for me, my life and my personality, today.

To put it into perspective: The music of Aphex Twin was just as important for my personality as the classic literature for boys at that age, I read: Siddartha, Naked Lunch, ... ;)

I would'nt be the same as I am today, without Rich's music.

I'm an extreme music-junkie with an own radio show, more music than I can listen to in my whole live and profound knowledge on Beats, Breaks and Funk music, but no other song ever manipulated my feelings as much as Rich's music always does in one way, or another..

Because of this, I stopped listening to any warp'esque music back in 2002. I could'nt stand it anymore - had to go on with my life and so I did. ;) Everything turned out nice and today, I'm living in a beatiful house out in the country, together with my husband. My next big musical love was Breaks'n'Beats.

I started doing a weekly show on bigbeatradio.com in 2005, called "HappyHappy JoyJoy", which I'm still doing today, but at no regular basis.. It's about 6 shows a year, now, but I can't stop completely.. ;)

Okay. That's the past: Been an highly addicted warp fanboy in the 90ies, almost forgot about all the beauty in this music in the 00s but when the hype about "Syro" started, I was all triggered and alert on what's coming next. Of course, I ordered the LP at bleep and to be honest: I don't really like it. Maybe, it's a grower - I don't know, yet.

But then: A week ago, everything changed. Suddenly there were 10, then 50, then 110 (and now even 150! \o/) tracks from some of my favourite eras, I could listen to for the first time! \o/

Same style I love, same feelings, it always gave me, but completely unconnected with that (mostly bad) time of my life!

This is, why I'm listening to all these new releases on repeat since more than a week, now.. ;)

The conclusion of all this blah blah: I have to say THANK YOU, MR. JAMES!!

Thank you for everything you did! It means the world to me. Your music is much more important to me being me, than any other music ever was or (most probably) will be.

That said, one last funfact: I'm living just 20km away from Bad Vilbel.. ;)

Cheerio,

stimpy

Good Lord, so many killer tracks, this is going to take months to digest. And I'm loving the live recording of 'Pulsewidth' posted earlier, and the 'Heliospan' live version on Soundcloud. AFX live album?

I dug out '26 Mixes For Cash' this week on the back of all this, I'd forgotten what sweet stuff is on there too. Did that ever come out on wax?

At the moment the idea of listening to anything that isn't RDJ seems laughable. Why would you? Like having Nescafe when you know you've got Millicano in the cupboard.
