I have a fantastic idea. It is entirely possible that this novel idea will blow your minds.

Stop talking about how shit it's going to be, don't go see it, and let your consciousness be free of it.

I'm just doubting it looking at Hollywood and the current lineup. Of course final judgement is always reserved for an actual viewing! It could be enjoyable for reasons the original won't be, but I doubt it'll follow in a similar vein to the original/series.

Came across this article that has a few good points about casting in Hollywood.

Well, if it turns out anything like the 2005 Aeon Flux Hollywood adaptation then not only will it alienate the core franchise fans, but it'll be a critical and box office failure as well.

We'll always have this regardless:

^ NSFW probably.

Some people wanted to do the opening credits segment as live action: http://io9.com/it-took-30-artists-to-redo-ghost-in-the-shells-opening-1583363629

Will probably look leagues better than the actual big budget movie.

There's a style to GitS that retains some of their Asian-ness (especially compared to something like Trigun). I think it would be a lot more interesting to cast an Asian woman lead to at least have a nod to the fact that it's a Japanese story, and then do whatever you like with the rest of the cast. Aramaki definitely looks Japanese, but Batou and Boma could be anything. And since they're all in 'shells' anyway, that would work.

Plus, anime isn't trying to appeal to white people...

That looks really astounding. The fact they're making it on a shoestring and it makes Avatar look ugly is even more impressive.

A full film like that could take sci fi by storm.

I think I'd just rather see more Anime of GITS than a live action adaptation.

That fan made intro looks awesome.

I will be amazed if it feels like a Ghost in the Shell THING.

the original gits movie was the best out of all of the other series/remakes/sequel imo

I enjoyed the series+ its movies the most since we got to know the characters so well. I also saw it first so, that might have something to do with it.

i remember watching the movie in the early 2000s. besides akira, and a few other 90s english dubbed anime movies around then, there was nothing else id seen that was so good. the older animation style was much better than modern cgi-aided "slideshows" i think

i had a low resolution divx(?) copy of gits i found on limewire back in the day too lmao
