Water Caltrop seedpods:

The plant floats on the water surface and doesn't look particularly remarkable:

The seedpods however...

Walking your cat

THIS

Also:

Not believing in Chinese Medicine, but wanting to try it just for fun

Growing your hair long, shaving it off, and repeating

Soft pasty thighs

Women who have a lot of cats, but are otherwise well-adjusted, and so it wouldn't really be appropriate to call them "crazy cat ladies"

Edit2: Instinctively muttering "sorry" whenever you bump into someone

Guilty of this.

Edit: not walking my cat -- the other one

It's probably pretty common around here. I do it a lot too.

The McArthur River uranium mine in saskatchewan, which is so high-grade that the host rocks have to be frozen and the ore has to be mined by robots so miners don't get fried by radiation

The Ponte Tower, Johannesburg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponte_City_Apartments

This is awesome, it's like the SA equivalent of Kowloon Walled City. Living there would be grim though- that view into the lightless, concrete-filled panopticon centre would have me jumping in about a week.

  • uranium mine
  • Saskatchewan
  • high-grade ore -> high natural concentration of radioactivity
  • frozen rocks
  • robot miners

Pretty damn IDM

I think I've posted this before somewhere but whatever. Here's the Bagger 288, world's largest land vehicle and excavator.
