I've never had trouble with their MIDI stuff but I know quite a few people (including myself) who've had lots of bad driver stability problems with their audio interfaces.

Last MOTU interface I used (a long time ago, to be fair) would completely crash the computer if I powered it on after booting instead of before. Not even an error message, right to a black screen, had to hard reboot.  Which is better than the trouble one friend of mine has where a couple times a month his 828 MKIII will just stop working and he'll ahve to reinstall the drivers and reboot, sometimes multiple times, to get it to show up again.

Back in college I called MOTU tech support and asked if they planned to release Linux drivers for their current firewire interfaces and the tech support guy literally laughed and hung up on me.

I've got mixed feelings on MOTU.

Is it possible to set which step a sequence starts playback from? I have got into a rather annoying habit of sometimes making loops where my '1' is actually step 9 or whatever and it's annoying as fuck when I'm trying to record stuff that I'm starting my loop early so to speak.

Sold mine like a year ago but I have other Arturia Stuff with the same step sequencer and I'm pretty sure it can't

I’m pretty sure this can’t be done using only the bsp machine. It would be awesome though. There might be some way to do it by reversing or something, or possibly with software (I have only used mine in standalone).

As far at the bsp goes, tho- I feel like you can’t beat the value of it. It’s not my favorite thing at all, but the way it can be used as a din sync/midi/cv interface, combined with the simplicity of the modes and how you could just scale a tone with a knob in any specific mode..... seems totally worth the money.

A really versatile device that can do a ton of cool shit but needs a bit more flexibility in its settings (I've sent these to Arturia):

1. Drum note mappings per-project (one of the most fun drum sequencers I've used but only 16 midi notes for the whole thing isn't enough).

2. Allow the ability to turn the MIDI performance channel off. Need this if you have stuff assigned to all 16 channels already.

I'd be quite happy if these things happened. As it is, I get a ton of usage out of it.
