A metaphysical trawl through some of the more cosmic sounds created by artists such as arch-drude Julian Cope, Nurse With Wound, deep space jazz prophet Sun Ra, Thighpaulsandra, Andrew Liles, Thomas Leer/Robert Rental, Zoviet France and a variety of other sonic curiosities. More of a deep drone feel for the 1st quarter, before mind prolapsing into more esoteric experimental realms, via a variety of blue-moon inspired modular synth chicanery. Track list in a bit.

Gotta keep up but I've really enjoyed the first three a lot. The selections are full of unknown gems, eclectic and mixed excellent too. Deserves more attention imo, educational as well as enjoyable :)

Touche, Sir!

Kind words, just try n let the music/sounds do the talking, + mixing is always good therapy even when they go wrong (like when u phoget to press record = D'OH!)

i've been raiding a few of my old man's more leftfield jazz records and trying mixing things alongside some of the more recent Andrew Liles & NWW releases,,,,,, Sun Ra especially never seems to 'date'.

+ you've all heard the usual bollix infinite times anyway, so theres a mass of good electronic strangeness to select from

last 1 has plenty of percussion, starts softly n b4 you knows it yer with the god Pan & the Master Musicians of Joujouka, + a measure of William Burroughs as always, walloped on pain-meds so everything's in the wrong sleeve/folder afterwards......got there in the end doe

look out,

a biannual ritual appraisal at Solstice to explore and document potential currents of sonic inspiration (past present & future). Starting with the wisdom of Sun Ra & the re-encoded audio of NASA's 'Jupiter' data & ending with Nick Cave on Current 93 ballad duties, its a varied affair in-between. Included some gems by Orphax, Tim Benjamin, Andrew Liles, Legowelt, Tangerine Dream, Nurse With Wound, Cabaret Voltaire and various others to compliment.

For optimal results, a quiet, relaxed and barely lit setting is recommended.

Very sorry to hear man, hope he went in peace. Listening now on headphones with a good glass of wine and enjoying very much. Thanks for sharing again :)

Cheers Jan, what a fuckin week. It was as peaceful as possible given the aggressiveness of the cancers and he never complained once. Relatively fine over Christmas, then a monstrous fast forward/slow motion decline. Wouldnt wish it on anyone.

Gonna go through all his jazz records/cd's over the coming months and attempt some sort of tribute mix(es). You could do a few just by individual profiles - Gerry Mulligan, Thelonius Monk, Sun Ra, Chet Baker, Ben Webster, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Anita O'Day etc and he must've had everything Miles Davis ever released (and a few bootlegs too).

Life eh.

Pretty broad sound cocoon concocted for roads less traveled. On the roster are CoH, Andrew muthafuckin Liles, Jon Hassell, Current 93, Anthony Child, Iris Light, Zoviet France, Philus, The Hafler Trio, Thighpaulsandra, Severed Heads, Floh De Cologne & Meri Wilson:

A sonic array for deep spring-cleansing those chakras. Tracks encompass artists who've recorded & released on labels as diverse as Colin Potter's Integrated Circuits Records (an institution for electronic esoterica), older grooves from Severed Heads, Dennis Coffey & Don Cherry, with more recent gems from Darren Tate's Fungal imprint for added zest:

Awwww yes. Perfect timing; the chakras need cleaning right enough after some St. Patrick's Day overindulgence on my part.

Cwmbran, did you ever listen to any of the Perennial Polyculture mixes someone posted here a while ago? A similar vein to your own stuff and highly recommended:
