Super Mario Maker 1 & 2

Recommended Posts

I've just finished my first level.

I find it a bit frustrating that I can't access everything immediately, but I guess it's a good thing to learn your basic tools before being given access to all them.

Like I said, I just finished my first one. It's far from perfect and it's extremely short since I can't make long levels yet, but hey... it's a level.

Was it worth it ? My brother and I asked my parents a Wii U for Christmas, mostly because of Super Mario Maker but I'm a little afraid of it not meeting up my expectations !

I've only just started but from what I've seen on GiantBomb it is a hell of a lot of fun. Especially with friends!

yeah i was playing around last night with the new additions and having a lot of fun.

the flying clown car with fire addition is a soooo much fun. placed an empty one in a level and accidentally got a bouncing fish to land in one and it started flying it around shooting at me. instant chaos. was then playing around with the boots as well. only *clicked* last night than yoshi from Mario U / Mario World turns into the boot in Mario 1 / Mario 3. and you can give the boot wings to give it a yoshi-esque hover. and u can give the boot a mushroom to give it the ability to pull off a ground slam. man. all cool shit.

i really love this game :)

I'm about to check out your stage right now. Here's the last "real" stage I made:

POWer Switch Fortress (0395-0000-0104-4E98)

Let me know what you think of it. The one person who gave me feedback said it was too hard and confusing....

The last stage I made was for a Destructoid challenge, but I don't find it to be very fun.

I played your stage and it was cool. It was well-designed and the only thing I hated was the trampolines at the end, simply because I hate trampolines.

Fun stuff! I look forward to playing more.

Oh man, you're gonna hate my next one. I just unlocked the ability to make longer levels so I'm gonna rework my newest one.

Here is a random one of my levels. The rest are on the profile obviously.

The bookmark website is a great idea. I keep meaning to pick up Mario Maker again but Xenoblade has me hooked right now.

Who here is Boiter?

me.

your Donk! level was rad. still balls to the hard but was having fun with it :)

Ah, I thought so!

I really enjoyed making "Donk!". That one trampoline (you know the one I'm talking about) part was doing my head in, but the rest of it is fairly easy once you figure out what to do. Oh, and there are parts that require you to pick up certain power-ups or else you won't be able to make your way through the level.

By the way, Jeff Gerstmann played my level. That felt pretty good.

Japanese artist Geniway made a tribute to Final Fantasy XIII using LABO and the Nintendo Switch.

Amazing what can be done with a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo's LABO cardboard... thing (not sure what you would classify LABO as):

I love the pitch bending by wobbling the box!

It's taken forever, but the 'Video Game Boss Battle Themes' album is finally here! Free download at the following link:

      https://atavisticspasmrecords.bandcamp.com/album/beat-the-boss-remixes

Here's a sampler for the album:

And here's a Discogs page so you can add it to your collections:

Thanks to all the artists who volunteered their time to make this excellent clutch of tracks. Extra-special thanks to WATMM's resident mastering engineer Zephyr Nova who did a great job giving the album cohesive levels! I know it's taken a while to come out, but I hope you'll all agree that the wait has been worth it!
This is meant to be a free album: please do not pay anything (enter '$0' under 'Buy Now'). I only used the 'pay what you want' option because that way there is no download cap. Enjoy!

      Hi!
I'd like to advertise for my friend Niclas well crafted chippy and melodic 4 track EP out now on Unko Records.
First track is an original composition and the three others are covers of old well known 8-bit tunes (two from Mega Man and one from Super Mario Land)

      Check it out:

And the winner of the poll is: BOSS BATTLE THEMES

So, as with other WATMM music projects this is a call-out to all producers/composers/musicians on WATMM and beyond interested in contributing. The theme of this album is 'Video Game Boss Battle Themes' which are often characterized as being grandiose, foreboding, intense, etc: an ambient album this will NOT be (though you can do an ambient interpretation if you want)! Mini-Boss themes work as well: pretty much any confrontation with a powerful enemy where the music changes to suit the situation!

There is such a tremendous pool of amazing material to cover and/or remix for this project! That being said I am not adverse to original compositions so long as they would sound suitable during a 'Boss Battle' of sorts. Also, feel free to submit as many tracks as you'd like!

So, here are the important rules:

1 - Due date for submitted tracks was November 1st, but I want to get more submissions in without people feeling too pressured so it's now JANUARY 15th, 2015!
2 - Submit your completed track(s) to [email protected] using a file sharing service like WeTransfer, Mediafire, etc.
3 - Submit your track(s) in a lossless format such as WAV or FLAC. Do NOT add a huge amount of compression (unless this is the effect you are trying to achieve) or otherwise attempt to master your track as all the tracks will be mastered for the album so as to have a more cohesive sound/volume. In your final mixdown please try to leave at 1-2dB of headroom.
4 - Album will, at the very least, be a free release on Bandcamp. If there is sufficient interest I may look into a physical pressing, but we shall have to see how this goes.

In the spirit of WATMM's Xmas comps all submissions will likely make it onto the final album unless I get a ridiculous # of them and then we may have to whittle the # down a tad to keep to a reasonable playtime.
In order to avoid a situation in which everyone makes covers of the same track (e.g, a 15 track album of covers of SMB 3's Boom Boom Theme) feel free to post in this topic with regard to the theme you'd like to cover, that way people will not all chose the same ones hopefully.

Alright, I am very excited to hear what you all come up with!
