elseq 1-5

I doubt this is the twelfth LP; it is as it's presented, five EPs or short collections of tracks. They mentioned that Exai was collected and sequenced essentially as a series of EPs, but Warp wanted an LP so they called it a double album and chopped L-Event off into it's own EP. And of course Quadrange.quaristice.ae or whatever it's called is set up the same.

I also doubt this will ever see any format other than digital. AE/Warp tend to stick to what they say when it comes to AE releases, and someone a few pages back heard from Warp that this was digital only. That info was interesting actually, essentially this bleepstores thing is just Bandcamp but not, where AE have nearly full control of everything in regards to the release. I'm sure there'll be a true LP down the road, maybe even in conjunction/related to elseq, with physical releases and all, but who knows when that'll be considering they just released 4 hours of tunes.

they've basically freed themselves from the idea of releasing physical.

...

this is very much booth/brown taking control of how their work is released.

There's something very different about this release, all around, from the content to the format to the distribution to the packaging and marketing (or lack thereof). Freedom and control for sure.

The AE_LIVE stuff was dipping their toes in these new waters. It was low risk because they'd already created the material as a byproduct of the shows, and they knew there was demand for soundboards already. Once that proved successful they knew they could continue with this distribution method and now we've got this unique type of release that maybe only makes sense through this new channel.

I love how tense it gets right before the abrupt cut to black and you don't know if Tony is dead or not.

It's a nice contrast to the new Plaid album. Still rooted in the old fashioned way, even though they also have their own bleepstore. More marketing through warp. Preorder. Physical format.

I'm wondering what the aphex twin bleepstore will be. Basically a soundcloud store?

Thing is, this would still have a spot on the Releases page, and there would be a news post. I mean, it's most definitely a real Warp release, right down to the vanity catalogue number "512" the same way that Quaristice was "333" out of sequence. Why play with the CAT# if you're exiting the traditional system of release?

I get that maybe they are taking control and asked the label not to promote, but the silence is really kind of conspicuous.

Reminds me of the lack of visuals during an ae gig. Booth/brown have this purist streak of minimalism. Their music has center stage. The rest is unimportant.

Didn't quite make it thru the whole lot last night (fell asleep half way thru pt 5!) Early days but loving this on first impressions.Personally the long jammy nature of the tracks really does it for me and the overall sound of everything is so spot on and immersive.

Looking forwarding to spending lots more time with this!

I second this. I had strong difficulties to get myself into Exai/L-Event/AE_Live but upon first listen elseq feels like an easy thing to fall in love with. Will give the first part a few listens over the week-end before getting pt. 2 :music:

That's so weird, because I feel completely opposite.

Weird how autechre can be so polarizing.

Elseq is on Warp's frontpage, looks like it's gonna have more promo than the AE_Live release. It's not listed in their "Release" page tho :(

This is....wow, nearly twice as long as Exai.

Good lord they have turned into a mechanical, glitched up RDJ with the amount of material they have.

Haha did something similar. My gf and I were off work all day but the email came when we'd popped to the supermarket for 10mins. We bumped into a friend there who came back to ours so all I could do was dload it (not really socialising music).

Didn't put it on until around 10pm when gf had gone to bed and friend had left. I then listened to the whole thing while I pottered about. Went to bed at 3am this morning.

Today is walking with headphones day.

You can extract the picture file from the mp3 using mp3tag.

Never see it mentioned here but mp3tag is a must have
