The X-103 track is gnarly too daaaaamn

I remember reading about X103 in Simon Reynolds book Energy Flash, now I completely understand just how mindblowing that release was back in the day.

Jeff Mills & Robert Hood early collab

yes please, exactly my thoughts :-D!

Agree on the last track part, i think the OP was just trying to describe each suite of the track.

Could you elaborate on the Squarepusher tune? I wasn't aware that the Rome 2002 / Sonar 2011 track was just Tom versus RDJ or both of them collaborating.

I've posted about this a lot over the years, just last week too, but here it is :) it's been confirmed by Grant, Todd Osborn (in the thread I'm quoting from below) and others who know (Philie-T also confirmed it on watmm last year).

TL;DR: it's Squarepusher.

Also, re: the Rome tunes.

That's Tom, and there's a whole LP of those he did long ago.

I really am going to check into whether there's a chance at them being released. I'd imagine there's some reason they're not out already but I'll at least give it a go.

Is it possible if you posted the reason why they're not out already (if you get to learn it ofc)? I'm quite curious because I can't think of any.

It's been posted on watmm multiple times. Basically the lore is that Grant got about 100 (I think?) white labels of that acid 12" pressed but Tom never wanted to put them out so it never happened. Cylob most likely has a copy because he played two tracks of it on some mix he did in 2003 (there's a soundboard recording of that
here - the tracks are played right after each other, starting around 27 minutes - rest of the tracklist here ).

Ok thanks. I appreciate the rundown again. I've been rusty on Rephlex / WARP lore for years now.

coolest artist I found here was Qebrus (reminds me a lot of vaetxh), also Fis.

Yeah that's another new one for me too.

I remember Fis and SD Laika awhile back when I was following Tri Angle Records. JLin was probably the only one I recognized that wasn't him or another IDM classic artist.

Can that Polynomial C acid riff possibly been done with that new Korg Monologue that Rich was involved in? sounds really good.
