The reveal was good and I generally like The Mandalorian overall but it's a shame it's bringing in Jedi's and lightsabres and stuff now. I kinda wanted it to be a separate thing within the Star Wars u

I liked the film, as previously stated, but it kind of sucks that Rian Johnson will be spend the rest of his career making these calculated products instead of making original movies.

It's like taking a talented chef and hiring him to make fries at Burger King for the next 15 years.

how to you know what Rian J is going to do in the future ?

looper is a masterpiece btw

I bet Disney rethinking that and at least considering taking him off the 'new' SW project after the numbers of TLJ the last week....apparently it's not making near as much money (past opening weekend) as it should've.

just saw this today. I liked many parts of it and also disliked a fair amount. I think the worst bit is that it renders Finn’s character virtually pointless? all the new characters they introduce go nowhere, even Laura Dern outside of her final moments. You could have cut an hour out of this film with no repurcussions.

liked most of the Rey/Luke stuff outside the one cameo which nearly broke the movie for me. the last 45 minutes were easily the best. Hux is pointless, Snoke is pointless, and everyone’s motivations are muddy and unclear.

+1 Adam Driver Pants

+1 Luke’s last scenes minus the weird conclusion

+1 for the Porgs

-500 casino planet and Jedi Tiny Tim

I'll watch it when it's up on that boat site, same as TFA. Then delete after watching.

It's weird with these movies and the Marvel ones. Literally the only reason I'm watching is so I have some context when I watch RLM or other web-based memery.

it's true though. the most interesting thing about these franchise movies are videos like RLM critically deconstructing the insanity.

in an ironic way they are a critique on modern society. modern society has become a huge franchise. and the more biting and factual the critique, the better. it becomes satire.

put into the right perspective, the bullshit becomes food for laughter and mockery. i make it sound bigger than it is. but it's true, imo. :/

I liked it even more the second time

Still hate the casino planet and Benicio del Toro’s character is worthless (just make Rose the hacker, you lose an unnecessary 20 mins of the movie and make another random addition worthwhile)

But the island stuff is awesome and the third act is exhilarating

Will probably see a third time

I went in with no expectations and i ended up liking it. There were definitely a few moments that made me cringe but it was better than i was expecting/fearing. It's not a great movie but it's fun.

I LOL'd too! It reminded me of brilliant bird foot intro shot to Jurassic World:

so luke is a pedophile in this right? and he's running an epstein style island where galactic senators can go and "use the force" on young padawans. which explains why ben solo turns into a raven haired lunatic with his knights of ren aka corey feldman and his angels. yoda is david geffen. i see what they're doing here. i'm going to get to the bottom of this.

but we learned that you shouldn't be fool by appearences and then trust your instinct anyway because appearances are indeed a reliable basis for judgement

So apologies if this has already been posted, but it's been confirmed that alongside the new episodes in the Star Wars series, there' going to be standalone movies released as well. Could be pretty cool if done properly (a Boba Fett movie would be especially good). Anyway, here's the 411 from Empire:

A clip from the upcoming Star Wars movies on Blu-Ray show Lucas finally went and fixed something in the movies that actually needed fixing: That damn lame Yoda puppet (which was inferior to even 1980's Empire Strikes Back Yoda puppet) from The Phantom Menace:
