i hope they give it to putin as a gift. thanks for 2016! would fit nicely in guest room of the kremlin

Well it looks kinda like Russia is getting nuked in that artistic masterpiece, so not sure if brother Vlad is gonna approve...

lol didnt notice that flash

i was distracted by the geographical impression: the west is all glorious mountains, which abruptly turn into verdant fields along a line. some subtle painting of those west-coast liberals as 'others' in that painting.

also the mountains conveniently get less glorious across the mexican border, despite mexico actually having 4 mountain peaks taller than anything in the part of the usa that is shown (if you exclude alaska)

C'mon guys, on the other side of the Atlantic is Europe, that's NATO being blown up :cisfor:

Gotta love the 12-mile tall Lady Liberty casting a shadow over Delaware from international waters, it's what the founding fathers would have wanted.

omfg  "discredited Cohen". I'd like to see him tweet about ALL OF THE "discredited" people surrounding him who used to be his allies. Criminals friend criminals.

You know if this all was a game of clue ALL SIGNS would point to Trump being the murderer.

I'm posting this for the segment from 33:55 and on. This is a satire show that I listen to from time to time... Anyway... Although this is satire, this is pretty much sums up Trump supporters. At least the few that I know appear this way.

^^^ I feel like that captures the kinds of trump supporters who call into these shows. I've listened to a lot of some of the AM conservative radio (it's fun for various reasons) but not really your average Trump supporter who is just some guy who was born into the culture and chooses to follow an alternate news stream.

That is the musical equivalent of making a really well mixed and mastered track that still sounds generic.

Sorry to be That Guy but this there's nothing "really well mixed and mastered" about this painting.

It is hilarious though. I love how the eagle is shredding the flag, like "fuck this place, I'm moving to Canada".

Man you are so "that person". lol. Well I say 'well' as in okay really. I don't think it's "mixing" is good but it's definitely not bad. But 1/10 on creativity which is really all that matters. This is like a parody of what you think a Trump supporter would paint.

You can tell she isn't a bad painter in the technical areas which is why I said it was well mixed... Tho I take back the well mastered bit. I mean after all as already been stated, he/she nailed the face, orange hue, reptile eyes and everything. I mean look at the lines in his flowing wig.

Yeah, it looks like a parody of American patriotic art but patriotic art is similar everywhere around the world. Which got me thinking why right-wing nationalist art is so often sort of garish maximalist art and the left-wing/socialist political art is more minimalist like that Obama hope poster?

For the same reason that American men who are vertically and virilely challenged feel the need to drive oversized pickup trucks with no mufflers and have an AR-15 fetish.

this yep. In Texas It feels like there's this unsaid competition to drive the biggest trucks. There are massive trucks with six wheels and those things that jut out the middle of the tires (basically a road hazard to any other vehicle except theirs) that literally take up 100% of the side of the road they're on. Then they'll drive over in your lane anyway.

It seems most people don't need massive trucks... a normal sized truck would do just fine.

Yeah, sure also there are examples on the opposite end like how Italian fascists used pretty minimalist graphic expression in some of the posters.

But just occured to me when looking at the propaganda posters in Vietnam just yesterday that a lot of communist posters are pretty simple as opposed to something like that Trump painting and it felt like a bigger trend between right vs left.

Just sort of interested in the psychology of why some people turn right or left wing and if it somehow correlates with aesthetic preferences..

Yeah, I think there is something innate there. By which I don't mean to say that right-wingers all have bad taste, just like they're not all stupid. There are a number of brilliant people on the far-right that make beautiful stuff. For some reason Borges is the only one springing to mind. But I think the right's aesthetics just doesn't scale down as well as the left's; they don't work as well on the shallower end of the pool. On the other hand I think that the average right-winger has a higher tolerance for cheesiness than the average left-winger, like they are more comfortable with adopting artifacts for their symbolic values even if they're fugly or gaudy.

Might have more to do with propensity for piety or general respect for authority than taste alone, or how they prioritize that. Like, aren't pretty much all communist/hard-socialist states officially atheist or secular?
