Nathan Fake - Providence

Hmm. Those 2 tunes make it sound like a mashup between Rustie and Neil Landstrumm. Quite poppy and vibrant.

I can see why Ninja Tune have picked up on this, quite a departure from previous Nathan Fake music.

Will reserve final judgement until I've heard some more.

What's happened to Border community?

hmmm, Is Nathan pandering to trends with this changeup? Sounds a bit whatevs and the tuning is all over the place and I usually like odd clashing notes.

when artist dont know what to do they just start making cheesy electro pop

Ye, esp. those stupid hihat rushes into the 1 on the o.p. track.  Totes douche chillage c'mon man you're above tropes like that.

Even the one above is straight Ninja Tune stock footage from 2008-present, shit you could put all their releases since then on shuffle and I'd be hard pressed to tell you who's who on a given track

Well not to keen of the new track as well but I adore Nathan Fake's Hard Island and other stuff.

Also read he had writers block for 2 years and didn't write a single tune, good to be so honest about it and come back strong.

Also "Steam Days" already sounded like a compilation of older tunes to me? So very excited for the whole thing...

i find it a bit ridiculous to say that 2 years without making tunes is allready a "writing block" but ok.

Really like the new LP and crunchy digital sound. Very coherent whereas Steam Days sounded like a compilation of older tunes to me. RA nailed it with "salty instead sweet". Though there are a lot of ambient interludes, which always seems lazy.

Great article on FACT...except they repeatedly mix up Hard Islands with Steam Days.

On first listen, this is my favorite album by him (with Hard Islands a close second). Really adventurous stuff here.

might be his best album yet ? thats very wrong but anyway strange record with some amazing and some very unnecessary tunes, but what i love about nathan is his honesty about how he creates tracks and his "cheap" gear which gives his music a romantic touch to me.

Yeah this was a really refreshing album imo compared to a lot of other hyped stuff by peers and others of the same notoriety in the press.
