New countdown, new release? [Aphex Twin Warp Store]

Weird comment from Aphex there. I'm not getting a totalitarian vibe from the local government or police where I live. We're all just kind of hunkering down, because we know what's up.

Since when did we need to take political cues from our musical overlord?

Fanboyism is a disease for the weak-minded. ?

Has anyone noticed that the Drukqs album is sold out on the store? Does this mean the digitals are also there for a limited amount of time?

Plus on the home page scrolling all the way down there is two sentences "Old Mastered Cassettes (Soundclown)" written on it.
Has this been there for a while or is this new, can't remember if I've seen it or not.

EDIT: my bad, i was on the vinyl/cd page... Nevermind

I think we always have reason to be wary about giving power to governments, especially in times of crisis. PATRIOT Act, anyone? I remember how fucking ridiculously high Bush's approval ratings were right after 11 September 2001, even though he was just as fucking stupid as he ever was. And then Congress passed that fucking steaming shitpile on our liberties, and everyone grabbed a fork and started scooping some right down their own throats because it was called "PATRIOT": what kinda Arab terrorist are you that you would question our president? (I have a dark complexion; I heard variations on this a lot at that time.)

That said, the lockdown thing here is a bit different. I don't know of too many arrests in my area, but maybe I'm wrong. While there's a paternalistic element to this whole thing (we're being told rather forcefully what to do because we're too dumb/selfish to do it the right way on our own), I honestly wonder about paternalism for exactly these kinds of things. Maybe people (or enough people) are too dumb, and they're not just killing themselves with their recklessness--they're killing their grandmas and their neighbor's sickly cousins, some of whom know the risks and don't want to die, but are getting trampled asunder, nevertheless. So I'm honestly torn on this issue. Here's the thing: we need to be vigilant that once a vaccine is readily available, we haven't given over any more liberties than we had pre-December 2019. I have my doubts that we can pull this off, just because history shows time and again that something like this happens, and we then have slightly fewer liberties than we had to start with. I feel like the social contract is really more like an agreement with a casino that we had no choice about entering: you walk in with a certain amount, but they ensure that you'll very nearly certainly walk out with less.

give it time, and depending on where you live you might get a diff vibe/feeling from your trusted local government and police. i won't post any videos or articles of ppl being arrested or being roughed up for trying to go outside

hmm, not sure who you are referring too (everyone that thinks in a similar manner?) but I've been in this mindset for years before seeing Richard post anything about 'chemtrails' and powers that be wanting to control us. look at my sig, couldn't agree more. Reading all the stuff posted 'conspiracy theories' or whatever you want to call it, and seeing them line up with what i've already heard and had an open mind about wouldn't make me a weak minded fanboy. I could be wrong who knows, just wanted to post a response that not everyone follows blindly. Glad everyone is so upbeat and trusting about our society and what goes on around us...

Let's just all go back to sleep, nothing to see here. Take all your vaccines , drink your fluoride and make sure to eat your genetically modified food. Give up all your rights and all will be well, we'll take care of you.

Governments around the world seems absolutely fucking desperate to end lockdown as soon as possible, places in the US and Europe are opening up again. If they were trying to really control society they must have got bored of it pretty quickly.

from 2014 Q magazine interview:

interesting statement on belief. but i think richard practices skepticism and trolls.

i'm fascinated by disinfo. thomas rid, author of Active Measures: The Secret History of Disinformation and Political Warfare, discusses how plausibilities are exploited by the KGB, which has always been engaged in disinformation (including its predecessor, the Cheka, and its successor, the GRU), in this podcast episode of the Arbiters of Truth podcast series, which is a good series on disinfo. here's another interview with the same author.

how to know things is an existential problem. proving conclusions is laborious. evidence is contingent on its context, forming a feedback loop of uncertainty. you establish trusted entities and form working hypotheses and work with probabilities. it's important to be aware when you're working with an assumption, though, and try to bear in mind the supporting evidence. socrates said he knows only that he knows nothing. he was put to death for questioning the gods. before drinking the poison, he said a prayer for the gods to aid his passing. he neither believed nor disbelieved, but thought it was important to maintain skepticism.

The Soul Publishing is one of the top 3 largest content providers on youtube. they put out mostly benign, stupid, cheaply-produced stuff. but they cultivate a big audience, are based in russia, and they mix in russia-slanted political disinfo. The Biggest Social Media Operation You’ve Never Heard of Is Run Out of Cyprus by Russians

i appreciate caution in the face of government encroachment on liberties. i also think some bogus stuff about c19 is being peddled by entities that are duped, incorrect, or deceptive.

richard is the man, for sure. and don't get me wrong, i'm into fringe topics. i'm interested in praeter-human intelligences, aka aliens. i've spent time looking into 9/11 conspiracies, and i don't claim to know the full extent of who may have been involved. skepticism is important. but i think richard knows that. he's likely tweaking people, like synthesizers, by stating ideas as declaratives.

  • 4 weeks later...

Anyone notice the 'tracks' page has been slightly updated to show the RDJ pseudonym beside its respective track? Also I'm fairly certain the artwork sizes/height of each block seems smaller, allowing more tracks to be displayed at once.

https://aphextwin.warp.net/tracks

Pretty sure this is a change that's happened in the last week or so, as I check the page semi-regularly for new shit and don't remember seeing it last time.

No idea if this is Warp simply neatening up the interface, or if it's in preparation for something? Maybe best not to get our hopes up. The 'old cassettes mastered' heading has been there for how fucking long now?!?!
