A couple of spontaneous compositions.

Inspired after viewing the 2017 solar eclipse in southern Illinois here in the States, these tracks came to be almost overnight..

Let me know what you think of the EQ in particular, I feel that's where I need the most help.

Wow the production quality is incredible, sounds exactly like I'm sitting with my head next to an 808; wouldn't change anything, love the arrangement and extended chords, sounds are masterfully obfuscated for that now-you-hear-it-now-you-don't sensibility. Love the nice short length, leaves me wanting more!

Wicked, super tight sounding tracks. As an electro boy I really love the 808 patterns here <3

Can't fault "Totally Different", it's fantastic! If we're digging for EQ problems, then perhaps the high end pop of the kick drum is too prominent, and could be dialled back with less compression, or taking out some of the high end. But really, you're bang on with this, keep it up!

With "Gems", another great track but perhaps too similar to the first one... like that bass sound seems identical to the one in the previous track! It's cool to have a sound, but you can't be repeating the same tricks

Top notch productions though. This stuff reminds me of CiM a bit

Thank you for your honest input! It is encouraging.

Those keys are really lush and I love the super high pitched aliasing. Nice tight drum sequencing with enough variation to keep it interesting... it's really good

Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you for your constructive criticism, I consider myself a student and understand that many wise souls lurk these channels, so I really appreciate your feedback.

EQ and mix wise they sound decent. all the sounds are super dry but it works quite nicely with the minimalism.

i'm not that into the repetitive note progression on Totality Different but the other synth parts are quite nice. i like the swelling synth towards the end.

So I've upgrade to Reason10 and along with it came a tremendous, orgasmic, granular synthesizer. Here is one of my first experiments. The original sample is a voicemail from my sweet Papa, demonstrating the fantastic capability of granular synthesis to turn even the most non-musical samples into pads of pure wonder.

Anyone here know this guy from chicago ? it's really cool.
I've been listening to his stuff since like 15 years now, and I never ever met someone who knew about him, he seems totally off the radar.
i've been doing a quick search on watmm but found nothing related to him here (maybe i'm wrong !! )
I did not checked it out since a few years and I just saw he still releases stuff.
you can download for free tons of their early stuff on the https://padk-rad.com
the style switched a bit from eclectic lo-fi electro to more soft tech/house oriented stuff since around 2010, when 2 of the 3 original band member left.
in the old releases, check out "401K-RAD", "UTLTY", "T12 CD", "coldwentmodem"

Something pretty spontaneous that came out of a slower track. 100 bpm. Reason10 for arrangement. oZone for stem mastering/effects. Just recently captured the _phuqr moniker. Been into the pulverized kick drums a lot lately, swingin around n the pan pot n what not. Track might get louder with more processing. Will be showcasing this track at an upcoming show in Chicago Aug 3rd. Some samples of samples hangin around in there captured from uChoob. #Snareup

Intro video should give an idea of how it works. Lots of stuff to talk about with it but just wanted to start this up for now. I’ve been playing with it intermittently over the last couple months, still very new/learning still.

      Hi Everyone,

I've been using Logic for well over 20 years, but bounced around between various DAWs once they stopped making the PC version ages ago.

I've been using Reaper for the past three years or so and I really like it. I could never get comfortable with Ableton - despite it being excellent software. Main thing for me was lack of customization for key commands.

Anyway, Reaper has so many advantages for electronic music production, especially those requiring flexibility in routing or microedits: Excellent bounce in place functionality, ability to have effect chains on a per EVENT (rather than per track) basis, sample-edit editing in the arrange window, plus about a million more things.

I suppose some downsides could be the relatively "primitive" GUI and simple built-in effects.

If anyone is curious, here's a DAW runthrough of a recent track in Reaper.

Anyone else using it? Happy to hear all your tips and tricks...

      Thanks for listening,

      Jake

      Helioscence #Bandcamp page launch!
This is my first official independent musical release.
This is a two track e.p. in the genre of hardcore dance with elements of dub and electronica.
Mixed, mastered and conceived by yours truly.
I have a ton of unreleased work that will be made available to stream and buy over time.
Thanks to friends and family for all the support as I open this new chapter on my creative path.

Huge thanks to @bobbyearly for script design and @zd3strd4 for Bandcamp page design and layout.
