zero Posted October 29, 2021 Share Posted October 29, 2021 starting to notice the effects of the "great resignation" at the local grocery store. every time I've been there in the past week, there have been massive line ups to check out. only like 1 regular check out open, and 1 set of the 3 self-check out aisles staffed (I always use those). none of the regular workers appear to be there anymore. the front windows are advertising a hiring fair to get people to apply. I guess no one wants to work anymore. look around for a store that a pays a living wage and has better benefits.. it's likely that store is better staffed. local grocery stores here are well staffed... so far. but have seen lot's of hiring signs at other places.. convenience stores, fast food places. portland is kind of a bubble in a lot of ways though. If this trend continues, "funny" videos in 2030s will be just similar "humorous" statements overlapping each other in one huge garble of human sounds.
