Quote

In other words, the GameStop bubble will have the same practical effect as any other pump-and-dump scheme: transferring wealth from those who got into the scheme late to those who got into it early. The fact that there are short-sellers on the other side of some of these trades doesn't change the analysis.

So if you're thinking about getting in on the GameStop craze—or buying other stocks promoted by the WallStreetBets crowd—you should be cautious. The biggest winners will be the folks who bought into the scheme days, weeks, or months ago. If you buy in now, there's a good chance you'll be one of the suckers who gets left holding the bag after the stock crashes.

I consider my ability to both want to make enough money to buy a house, and be ideologically opposed to our societies insane wealth inequality at the same time, completely logical and reasonable.

And this is why you set trailing stop losses on volatile non-option trades/gambles. I haven't set mine yet though. Anything under 115 for GME seems to be the accepted low point for shorters to be able to exit their positions. Once it hits that it will crumble back to sub-10 in an instant.

I got my first taste of how quickly the stock market can leave you dazed, mouth full of blood, dick in hand, about 3 months after I started. I came up with this great idea (scalping, a well known bad idea)that because tqqq moves so quickly and often 0.5 percent at a time, if I just plopped my entire savings of £2000 into it, set a Take Profit for 20 quid, it would barely need to increase to win 2 hours pay.

Went great for 3 days, 80 profit a day, 4th day, it dropped 20 percent in about 2 hours, 400 down. What the fuck now. Waited another day. Lost another 350. Got out, pissed off and raging. Next day, back up to my original investment,  minus my 750 quid.

Good Times.

That also pales in comparison to buying bitcoin at 8800 with my then entire savings, only to have it crash to 2500 three days later and stay there for weeks, and weeks, and weeks.

its not our fault we live under capitalism you have to take part or you will become homeless and either be miserable, die, or go to jail.  unless youre living off capital alone in a way that exceeds a standard retirement after a life of useful work, youre in the clear

the insensitive usage of the word autist is widespread here on this message board

You should see WallStreetBets!

but I agree with you. It’s like how in the 90’s for a brief period, white people started listening to Wu-tang and suddenly thought it was ok to use the n word, with or without the “hard r”.

The word Jorts just seared a dreamlike, rapid series of memories and thought processes through my brain that ended with a clear and lingering imagery of Iain Cs flaccid cock shot in Your Most Recent Picture

I remember that. it was buried under 15 layers of spoilers and when it was finally revealed it looked like Beaker upside down.

id rther not know musk personally

did someone call the based department

https://medium.com/@muetricht/karl-marx-was-the-original-dirtbag-leftist-6ec6319545f3

As a husband and a father, Marx is the gentlest and mildest of men in spite of his wild and restless character. Marx lives in one of the worst, and therefore one of the cheapest, quarters of London. He occupies two rooms. One of them looks out on the street — that is the salon. The bedroom is at the back.

There is not one clean and solid piece of furniture to be found in the whole apartment: everything is broken, tattered and torn; there is a thick coat of dust everywhere; everywhere, too, the greatest disorder.

In the middle of the salon stands a large old-fashioned table covered with oil cloth. On it lie his manuscripts, books and newspapers, then the children’s toys, his wife’s mending and patching, together with several cups with chipped rims, dirty spoons, knives, forks, lamps, an ink-pot, glasses, dutch clay pipes, tobacco ash — in a word everything is topsy turvy, and all on the same table. A rag-and-bone man would step back ashamed from such a remarkable collection.

When you enter Marx’s room, smoke and tobacco fumes make your eyes water so badly, that you think for a moment that you are groping about in a cave. Gradually your eyes become accustomed to the fog and you can make out a few objects. Everything is dirty and covered with dust. It is positively dangerous to sit down.

One chair has only three legs. On another chair, which happens to be whole, the children are playing at cooking. This one is offered to the visitor but the children’s cooking has not been wiped away: if you sit down, you risk a pair of trousers.

None of this embarrasses Marx or his wife. You are received in the friendliest of fashions; pipes and tobacco and whatever else there might happen to be are offered to you most cordially. Intellectually spirited and agreeable conversation makes amends for the domestic deficiencies, at least in part. One even grows accustomed to the company, and finds this circle interesting, even original. This is the true picture of the family life of the communist chief, Marx.

Setting stop losses on this level of volatility is licking the tip with money you shouldn't have sunk into it. Half of the ladder short strategy is to trigger stop losses (the other half is panic selling). Banking on a $1000/share pipe dream is one thing but a long tactic based on the continued short interest and tens of millions of ITM calls expiring has a certain logic (and a ton of risk). The red squiggly line is part of the fun.
