as usually i have several very distinct music video ideas, maybe now that i've officially entered a glorious season of unemployment i can commit to actually making some of them! (usually what ends up happening is i just immediately get swept up in producing the next album & never get around to doing supplementary material for the previous one, but wi will see)

Pretty wicked ambient album. Have listened like 3 times to it

Thank you! I'm glad you like it

i'm also happy that ppl still get an ambient feel from this one despite it being comprised mostly of (at times heavily) distorted drum noises, becuase ever since way back in my days in the drone music community i wanted to do an album that superficially was 180 degrees the opposite direction of drone music, but still somehow felt like drone music

ty ty, happy 2 hear u like it

((also walking around london in july listening to this feels very fitting to me, bcuz one of my inspirations going in was to try to make my version of a 1960s Beetlesque summetime psychedelic pop album, without actually invoking any of the sonic tropes used in that music))

^thx Salv!

i'm prepping a live set for next friday. hoping to have a bunch of remixed versions of things from old albums + some unreleased material (will either post a recording on vimeo or release it as a seperate album depending on how much the final result feels like it stands on its own). Going thru old material is also reminding me that I should get around to making TRAX(5) one of these days

also thinking of getting these done up as an irl sticker set:

I've been listening to this on repeat this morning. Really enjoying it! I feel like it's probably the best album I've heard from you for a while. It sounds fresh, but it also reminds me of a lot of my favorite stuff from densityproblems, and Mount Shasta. I really like the presence of the ZOOM recordings throughout.

Some favorites: Bicycle Day, Jupiter, Scar Tissue

"do it for techno"

Also, is there a story behind the recording of the angry ranting at the end of Jupiter?

thanks ganus!

tbh i appreciate a lot of the sounds on the two albums leading up to this one (without rly intending to they seem to be supplying the bulk of the raw material for my upcoming live set, bcuz the tracks are sparser & easier to mix), but yeah definitely recognize that they were mae from a place of emotional volatility & thus rather unpolished. before that, densityproblems had a two month gap in production because of a broken computer. song of war was put together in a single day for a live set. so really this new one is the first time since 2016 where i feel like i actually got to sit down for an extended period, uninterrupted, and focus on the album as a thing unto itself. i'm glad because it kinda feels like i finally put ideas that had been floating around my head for the last two years to rest, and can now explore fresh territory musically//in life in general

I really like the presence of the ZOOM recordings throughout.

that was definitely a biproduct of getting more into photography, and mayyyybe a first dip of my toe in the waters of experimenting more with human voices//vocals on tracks//etc

is there a story behind the recording of the angry ranting at the end of Jupiter?

that happened back in, uh, April I think? I woke up at 3AM because that man was ranting loudly about hockey in his apartment up the hall. at first I tried to ignore it, but it got increasingly insane as he began to talk about god & the end of the world, clearly throwing stuff around as well. i went out in the hall to record it & there were already several other tenants out there. someone knocked on his door & asked him to please quiet down & he responded with I'M GOING TO FUCKING MURDER YOU, BITCH, and that's when the cops were called to escort him away. I don't think he lives here any more? apparently there was a history of events like this for the last several years.
