Not being a douche but you really only just recognised the voice samples? I thought they were one of the more blatant elements of the track! Sounds like someone in the next room with their TV real loud.

That's actually one of my favourite things about ae. They use tonnes of voice samples but they're so creatively messed with. I know it's not a terribly popular track but deco Loc's voice mashery sounds excellent to me. Love it. It's weird, I don't really like vocals in music so much, but I love it when voices are mashed into the track unrecognisably. Like gonk steady one, that's just loads of voices all chewed up.

Yeah agreed. That effect alone is one of the things that got me into BOC, then i guess subsequently into ae. Love hearing foreign languages especially Japaneses. Its that Indirect  communication where you can just hear the sound without language and connotations. Thing has an effect on me. Is it washable?

^ Exai seems to have a lot of the "formant or comb filtering trickery" variety. Runrepik is also interesting because it seems to use some of those tricks (whatever they actually are)  more blatantly.

Eh? The part I'm talking about in Pen Expers is just a one-off thing at 4:44. What are you referring to here?

The thing I "just noticed" was in Pen Expers, not that part of Ipacial (I just find it hard to hear tho). But I see you were also insisting that the Ipacial voices are obvious in the other thread where they're brought up...? What's the big deal?

Wait... do people around here not like deco loc?

Hadn’t noticed mention of this anywhere before.

Not saying it’s the #1 track from Exai, but it’s still pretty damn great and I just assumed everyone else felt similar

the smug "ew, u need drugs to 'get' ae?" thing is so tired and obnoxious

They've literally said it's music made to listen to on drugs, inspired by listening to weird music on drugs :cat:

Who the fuck cares?
Handel's Water Musick was made to be played on a ship and to be listened from another ship.
But I shit on the face of Handel and listen to it on my stereo in my living room. I'm an anarchist.

And I listen to Autechre without drugs. Because I'm reckless.

I think that moment in Ipacial Section got mentioned in some other thread here, which is weird bc it's super hard to hear for me. I don't even have much idea of what the "conversation" sounds like, just get a vague feeling when I'm listening that something subliminal is going on...

Yes, I did mention Ipacial Section in that post. Good job finding that! However, you'll notice I didn't say I had "just recognized" the voices in it (I noticed they were there a long time ago), and was in fact talking about Pen Expers when I used that phrase!

Not being a douche but you really only just recognised the voice samples?

So if you were talking about Ipacial here, you misread my post!

edit: wow I can see how I (very unintentionally) might sound genuinely upset in this post. it was supposed to be more banter-y but oh well
