Connan is the closest I've got to a guitar god today. He can do no wrong.

Also, check his LUSH remix for The Horrors. Like NOW.

Can't help but feel also that an inevitable and brilliant collaboration with Mac Demarco is coming. Hoping so.

I don't dislike the guy, def honed into some Beck Midnite Vulture era weirdness and 70s kitsch early on but I rather listen to Kirin Calahan or John Maus most days. He's like, I dunno, fashionably weird.

really? I though that remix was garbage

mac demarco has played in mockasin's band. i can happily listen to callahan, ween, connan, who the fuck ever, and turn my dunb brain off and just not give a shit and enjoy. the music is weird and borderline stupid and that calms me. I'm down with that. no way I'm listening to it more than a lil bit every once in a while but it don't make me angry when I do enjoy a song or two

Just my humble opinion... my daughter got me turned on to DeMarco, and she also likes Mockasin, but I can't stand his stuff - just doesn't resonate with me for some reason.

Now, on the subject of other good artists:

I'm after chilled psy wackiness and whatnot. i understand that those flanged guitars might resemble mockasin but that's not enough...
in all honesty that potatoes song is this thread best post. i hope that connan covers it!

Another (by Anorak) in a similar vein:

All of them

I was around for Ween when it happened, and while I can see some vague topical connections between their influences and Mockasin's (soul music, Prince, drugs, oceanic wildlife), I would say Mockasin still remains pretty unique. I think to lump the two in together so hastily is ultimately insulting to both of them.

This guy really infiltrated my brain. The chorus to "I Will be the man, That finds you" has wormed me pretty hard. Klaus Kinski does kitsch pop. Klaus Kitschy....(surely someone has beat me to that)

been listening to that song over and over again... also this one. i wanna roll with you...

"Do I Make You Feel Shy" always reminds me of Freescha, in a really good way.

Surprised no one has posted his Boiler Room set, as that's probably the most concise intro to his stuff that I would think to show someone.
