Orbital 30

Can't believe just how long this is taking to come out. I remember the "30th anniversary album next year, then a new album straight after!" enthusiasm in 2018. Four years later and we're yet to get either.

Fingers crossed those reissues are going to be good. Paul talks about vinyl a lot in there (and, judging on a Twitter conversation I had with him a few years ago, seems to be of the incredibly inaccurate opinion that nobody buys CDs anymore), but I'd really love some nice 2CD versions with all the b-sides and some unreleased pieces. Orbital albums flow so brilliantly that they just seem to make more sense on CD than vinyl.

Looks like only one of these actually happened then.

Where is there news about deluxe reissues and a new album? Must have missed that.

Orbital were my gateway drug to electronic music, way back in ‘96. Still get huge enjoyment listening to those albums up through The Altogether.

I was about to splurge on the new box set + CD, but the Orbital shop's shipping costs were about 70 € on top of 100 € for the item itself. Too brutal, have to skip.

Seeing this coming out has piqued my interest in updating all my old Orbital playlists into flac and picking up on any one-off's I may have missed over the years - including all their remixes.  When's the last time you all listened to the remixes they were putting out in '92-'93? My playlist of remixes from that era basically sounds like a Brown album II - basically all golden-era techno/trance. I'll admit - there is a few I left off due to cheese factor, but the majority of these are still killer.

This one is my guilty pleasure Orbital ?

Also love this one. I know this album isn't usually a favorite but there are some gems on here.

The first half of Blue has some great tunes, but the production always makes it sound really cheap to me. Compare 'You Lot' with something like 'Way Out' or 'Crash and Carry' and it sounds like it's being played through a phone speaker in comparison. 'Transient' is a career highlight, mind.

One of my favorite electronic tracks ever. Slow burn remix by a Rabbit in the Moon alias. Maybe even hear some proto-BoC sounds in here. Simple, yet profound to me.

Nice to be talking about Orbital again!

The best one on The Blue album was the Japanese bonus track, Initiation (Remix)
