But I was curious to know whether you listened to much straight up Techno tracks and/or mixes at home and if you buy any of it. I'm not the party type and drugs put me off so going out dancing isn't particularly interesting to me but I'm into the music. Yes to everything basically for the same reasons you mentioned. Used to listen to DJ sets mostly when I was a kid and had some favorite DJs like Jeff Mills, Cristian Vogel, Claude Young, even early (90s - ~2001) Richie Hawtin. So eclectic genre bending selections and flow mixing skills was the thing for me. Occasionally some fast-paced stuff like Luke Slater, James Ruskin... I'm sure I forgot some worth mentioning, as I don't listen to it anymore. A funny thing actually, even when I get this sudden feeling of nostalgia and put on an old set I liked, I get these immense shivers of excitement like body memory or something, but I get bored of it after about 20 minutes or so... I guess it wasn't so much about music as it was more about excess energy, rebellion, experimentation, the rush, the adaptation and sometimes backwardness. The only DJ I appreciate and follow today is Tama Sumo who has an amazing selection and mixing skills, but hella mellow compared to what got me going back in the day.
