Be careful with Techno home listening. Techno police might break down your door.

Always soundproof your designated techno listening room

I think this can be an interesting thread given we're on a forum dedicated to this very sort of thing. But I was curious to know whether you listened to much straight up Techno tracks and/or mixes at home and if you buy any of it.

I'm not the party type and drugs put me off so going out dancing isn't particularly interesting to me but I'm into the music.

Yes to everything basically for the same reasons you mentioned. Not really a big fan of Detroit techno like UR / Mills / Drexciya etc. More digging the Hague scene, mainly Bunker/Panzerkreuz & Viewlexx/:

This channel for instance:

https://www.youtube....LuKMC5p2dbjmSRg

where I got a majority of new stuff, ace channel, would be here forever listing everything

search for the industrial techno thead here too

Besides the HATE promotions (btw they've a channel also on Soundcloud) Brutalist Souncloud could be worth to check out:

https://soundcloud.com/thebrvtalistxx

In addition to I HATE MODELS, Vofa/ANFS is the most interesting stuff I've come up with lately.

https://soundcloud.com/anifas

As for the newer labels, MORD & Perc take the cake.

I listen to techno all the time. It often flows better when there aren't so many changes fighting for your attention. There is a lot of innovation happening right now in techno music.

Techno isn't appropriate for home listening unless it's Crispy Bacon or Subhead & even then in small doses

Subhead/2CB put a party on in a dry-docked submarine ffs. Ever listened to techno in a submarine? Well i have. @ home is for lightweights...

So... is dancefloor oriented techno suitable for home listening? Why the fuck not if you like it. Safe way to bust some awkward dance moves I reck  :yeah:

Well techno got me into idmz and everything else, so it was like a gateway drug. Used to listen to DJ sets mostly when I was a kid and had some favorite DJs like Jeff Mills, Cristian Vogel, Claude Young, even early (90s - ~2001) Richie Hawtin. So eclectic genre bending selections and flow mixing skills was the thing for me. Occasionally some fast-paced stuff like Luke Slater, James Ruskin... I'm sure I forgot some worth mentioning, as I don't listen to it anymore.

A funny thing actually, even when I get this sudden feeling of nostalgia and put on an old set I liked, I get these immense shivers of excitement like body memory or something, but I get bored of it after about 20 minutes or so... I guess it wasn't so much about music as it was more about excess energy, rebellion, experimentation, the rush, the adaptation and sometimes backwardness.

The only DJ I appreciate and follow today is Tama Sumo who has an amazing selection and mixing skills, but hella mellow compared to what got me going back in the day. This is how getting old looks like fellas

Surgeon, how could I ever forget this guy. Surgeon @ Werk 2003 I think it was called, fucking beast
