Hopefully he finds more of a balance between the rhythms and breaks of his older stuff versus the emphasis on sound design of Foley Room and ISAM...

Adventures in Foam

Bricolage

Permutation

are solid gold.  everything after that a bit less so, then isam dropped the ball.  imo.

agreed that it feels like ages since we've heard from him.  exciting news!!

me too, thanks. (I also rate Supermodified the highest and think Foley Room is underrated.)

Thats fair, I do like Foley Room a lot, it did have a better balance... ISAM just went a little too down the sound design rabbit hole, it's got some great textures but it doesn't have that groove.

SC Chaos Theory was solid too.

I think he's lost it, too much money and technical freedom

Yes, Isam was not great. I’m willing to give him a chance on this one though. Too much other amazing stuff.

yes yes it's true. his 11 year run from adventures to foley room are absolutely essential, canonical.

Very true, some of his best work!  I actually found amon tobin through playing that video game, great game too.  But I'd consider that an album proper, I've rinsed it many times and it holds up on its own.

Yes/no for me? I'd kind of like to see what it'd be like if he used breaks again ala his older stuff but kind of mish-mashed with his newer style. If that makes any sense?

I don't know =/

I'm pretty pumped for this regardless.

Yeah I’ll always give new Tobin material a chance, he’s earned that much by a mile.
