Boards of Canada used in Bayer / Monsanto AD?

If that's not an official BOC remake of Olson then someone is gonna have a lawsuit on their hands

Sounds like Olson covered by 0PN on his Juno 60, vintage but cleaner recording.

Reminds me a lot of the interpolation bullshit that is rampant with indie rock bands that decline licensing. They get other musicians to barely tweak it to make it a "legal" alternative in the same vein

yeah, either monsanto paid the brothers so they could recreate/license Olson or someone needs to alert the compound STAT! Sound the warbly synth alarm!!!!

Seems pretty blatant. I don't remember the exact source but there was a commercial a while back that was a pretty shameless nic of a Bibio's "Lovers Carvings"

Wow, the bit at :29 was very Olson-like, but the ending piano melody is blatant plagiarism...

The irony of a feel good commercial about pollination from Monsanto.

Yeah, that's definitely a ripoff of Olsen, either the brothers are supporting "Tomorrow's Harvest" :dadjoke: or they've got a potential lawsuit on their hands...

I wonder if the band has any say in this more so if it’s a very close soundalike

Didn't seem to happen with Ae:

This advert from the early 00s always sounded spookily similar to Yulquen - did you guys have a hand on it, or is it someone in the advertising agency that's a fan !

yeah strange that one, i would def stop what i was doing if i caught it on tv, but its a bit fishy, another one for John Lewis Partnership around the same time (only Xmas tho) was another close copy, more 'tradDM'.
