anyone noticed the levels of distortion on these represses? fucking warp... bought it sealed brand new in Southampton... some people complaint about surface noise but it isn't that what bothers me, the guy who mastered this, who i guess is the same guy who cuts the lacquer, Michelle Grinser, is a fucking moron... :( high levels of distortion on mids and highs all over windowlicker...

lots of dudes complaining about the same issue...

i wondered about this myself but there's some writing on the inner center of the record which match the same on discogs... btw these are fucking hard to read, mostly because it looks handwriting, tried pointing a flashlight with different angles to see if i could read it better but no luck...

  • Matrix / Runout (Runout side A, etched): WAP-105-A2 MPO mg@d&m
  • Matrix / Runout (Runout side B, etched): WAP-105-B2 MPO mg@d&m

i checked the 1999 and 2012 versions and the identifiers are the same from 1999:

  • Matrix / Runout (Runout side A): WAP 105 A-3-1-1- A PORKY PRIME CUT.
  • Matrix / Runout (Runout side B): WAP 105 B-02-1-1 SIMON - THE EXCHANGE

Holding the vinyl at an extreme angle so the reflection of a light area (or large area of white) usually will make runout groove etchings easier to read.

Sad that the represses are poor quality - was there no quality control? It would be easy to say you got a bad pressing, but it appears you are not the only one...

btw how is someone suppose to know which repress it is? what about if nobody had submitted it to discogs? how did the guy who submitted it knew which repress it was specifically?

Well, comparing the runout groove etching is one potential way (if there is any) and sometimes the UPC on the sleeve is different from the original.
