Perhaps it would be better to say his academic work is based more on opinion than facts?

Someone fancies Sartre!!!

nope. actually a friend of mine lent me Being and Nothingness and I found it to be unreadable. I'm more of a Wittgenstein fan

Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent..... I never read any Wittgenstein myself.

Philosophical Investigations is a must-read at least. the Tractatus is well worth the time too, though very very easy to misunderstand

Yes he's certainly very insightful and in many ways well ahead of his time (although the concept of language bewitchment has been around for a while). I'm sure I can find a copy of both online somewhere. Thanks for the recommendation.

Revolutionary Socialism. I would like to believe that once class consciousness spread widely enough a workers revolution could lead an authentic socialist state, and I don't subscribe to the worldview that socialism has never and therefore never can succeed. But I find it hard to believe that jealousy, sociopathy, and greed wouldn't result in authoritarian power taking hold.

Also have been told that capitalism is inherently evil as it is based on the exploitation of workers, but in theory exploitation should not be necessary?? It seems like it arises out of ruling class greed.

Worker Cooperative's seem like a fairly ethical way of conducting business without the insane hierarchies present in most of them.

It’s because of the pursuit of unreasonable profit. My theory is people pursue profit because of the psychology of scarcity. That could probably explain all of the excesses of global capitalism and fear of socialism.

Also probably the idea of American individualism, which has been seething in perversion since at least the post war era, and maybe even began to veer off course around the industrial revolution. Cooperation is now something that is really discouraged.

Holy crap yeah it’s that Jerome twat! How on earth did he live that down!

Thought the first few series were p decent (good plot and characters... and good tits, come on) but gradually went downhill.

Season 7 is abysmal - laughably bad. Could not give a stuff about the finale rn, but might watch to see Cersei get reamed.
