Real Human Bean Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 My thread seems to've disappeared, here's a nearly done track. How's it sounding out there?https://instaud.io/3JMD 1
T3551ER Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) So nice to hear some in progress/current stuff m8! Unsurprisingly, the sounds here are top notch, as is the composition (and general emotive elements of the track). There is also a unique voice here - influences are felt, but it's more like using a very wide palette to paint a unique (and lovely) portrait. Some quick notes (will give this a proper listen on good headphones later - listening through earbuds atm) First "section" of the song pretty much wouldn't change a thing. Such a tight balance of the various sounds, particularly love the watery bits (slightly Orbital In Sides in the best way possible). Like that some of the sounds are a little bent/off-tuned slightly. Around 2:10 or so, when things drop out def love the hanging melodies, but things feel a little. . . thin maybe? Might consider adding some verb or even a really warm pad (but I'm also totally concerned that it's these shit earbuds) Dat drop aroudn 2:43. . mmm, love it. .. .Aphex-ish but not, like, a ripoff. Def your own thing. Instant head nod. Bass sounds thin but FFS earbuds you are the worst. The only thing I'd recommend considering is trimming the ending a little bit (last minute) - up until this point, feels like there is a steady stream of evolving musical ideas and motifs, the last minute seems to meander a bit (just my OP). Real Human Bean Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 Thanks you gents for listening and thanks for the very helpful critique. Taken onboard and implementing.
Plarkreluke Banloboh Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Nice swing feel, definitely like the way the plucked melody sort of speeds up and mimics the drum fill at the end of each 2 bar passage. Lot’s of delicate, wet, hi-fi details in the soft refrains that reward re-listening. That acid bass-line is really groovy the way it slides and it blends well with the gradual build up of bubbly textures.
