NTS Radio, the thread

Recommended Posts

https://www.nts.live/ has come up a lot here with their Warp collaborations, and bearing the name and debut of Autechre's mega-release.

But as far as I can find NTS doesnt have a general discussion thread.  I have shifted to using it almost exclusively for work and occasional home listening.  The amount of quality radio shows archived and streaming live is pretty staggering, IMO.

So it would be good to have a thread where we can share our latest favorite shows, or discuss if you think they are great/overrated/whatever.

Some of my recent favorites that come to mind are>

Pender Street Steppers show, im a fan https://www.nts.live/shows/pender-street-steppers

Zuli for more experimental club stuff, also check out Lee Gamble's show for similar vibe https://www.nts.live/shows/ZULI https://www.nts.live/shows/lee-gamble

There was a great Haruomi Hosono and YMO special https://www.nts.live/shows/haruomi-hosono-ymo-day

The Do You Breakfast Show is a daily but Charlie manages to keep it fun, im always down for his banter and track selection.  https://www.nts.live/shows/the-do-you-breakfast-show

I think one of the things that keeps me coming back over other online radio stations is how well organized the archive is.  Also they archive stuff within a day or so, so if I catch something good on the live stream but am busy at work, I can just check back the next day to give it a closer listen.

Just now listening to the Dance Music Show with Bell Towers live, impeccable vibe throughout.  Already cant wait to listen to all his other mixes, especially the show with PLO Man as guest

Also the other day was super impressed with Cosmic Dreamer Radio. Jumps around genres a lot which reminds me of my own listening habits.

That mark fell guest mix full of unreleased tracks is sure to be good.. Looks like he was also a guest on Lee Gambles show a few years back.  Im not one to judge, but the photo for this show looks like none of them have slept much, oh the life of computer music wizards.

*bling blung blong* / "N T S"

all of their station-id tones are dope, not a bad one in the bunch.  its a cool hold-over from broadcast radio, where they are required every so often according to fcc regulations.  back in my college radio, there was a minidisc (!) full of the callsigns and as dj you got to pick which one to use.  We had one from the 90's of bjork saying 'youre listening to kay, cee, pee, ahrrrrrh' that i played almost every time.  there was also a trove of weird al ones, as he got his start at that station.

Back on topic heres an excellent dub/reggae wackies label mix.  So watmm can chill out amidst those dying and embarrassment threads haha :music:

I play a lot of warp stuff on my show. I’ve had EOD on there as guest for one of the shows which I think would interest people on here.

Awesome!  Bumping the 28.09 show and this stuff is exactly what i need to get through this afternoon.  And im already excited by prospect of the gran turismo lounge special.

Do you perchance have a set date we can catch your next show on air?

The next show is 22nd Feb at 8pm UK time. I’ve got a special live set from Miami based electro legend ‘Gosub’.

This new pender street steppers show is just excellent.  guest LNS starts off with autechre into drexciya and keeps it excellent throughout.  i just started the pss second half which begins with what is unmistakably biosphere but a track im not familiar with.  No tracklist but a good one to just be along for the ride>

I should listen to NTS (I have the app on my phone) but never, ever do.

Sometimes I check the homepage and there’s so much great looking stuff and I don’t know where to start. I get bamboozled ?
