Syro is all the lushness of analogue + still has digital sparkle

Only rdj can do this.

Also this lp has slowly grown on me, discovering new things each time... It gets LESS old the more I put it on and is fresher each time... Kinda how drukqs was.

Really amazing. Proves yet again to me he's ahead of his time every time. Imagine how Collapse will age. ???

Yeah it really is a super detailed album, just takes a while to unravel, and on the surface it doesn't always sound like it has that depth to me (like drukqs did to at first even though I couldn't understand it), but it's definitely there

Kinda funny you made this thread 10 minutes ago. I was discussing the same thing with my friend around the same time. Syro really is a gem.

Best tracks EndE2, MarchromT30a, and 4bit 9d. So only one from my original cd.

Aphex Syro style just isn't my cup of tea (sorry to spoil the group hug)

It's complicated but it's not complex.... Or the other way around?

It's up there with his very best, for me. It might actually be my favorite of his, tbh.

It's like that annoying Skittles advert where everything the dude touches turns into a psychedelic, cascading, avalanche of rainbow coloured ultra-mini footballs.

(which sounds fantastic, might wack it on later)

Idk if I overlistened to the album or what but I don't enjoy Syro on the level I used to. I don't really get it. I think it's overlistening because my favorite tracks off of it now are the ones I listened to the least when it came out.

so is it annoyingly fantastic or fantastically annoying?

Syro is a real testament to how obsessive he is about equipment and recording / composition / arrangement process. In the past he had albums heavy on analog production, then an era of digital tools, and I feel like after Drukqs he made this goal of utilizing the best of both worlds in the same workflow. I feel like Analord and Tuss were part of that era of him honing in on how to utilize all of the niche, obscure, and rare gear he had.

It actually reminds me a bit like Druqks where I listened to it a bunch when I first got it, put away, stumbled across it again, listened to it a bunch again, put it away.....you get the idea.  It’s funny because I have like, a 5000 song Spotify playlist running constantly in the background at work, and it’s great when stuff from Syro and Druqks come on.  It’s like, “ I forgot how good that song was!”

GD never heard that Fenix mix before. . . gah....

Although I know it really bucks the whole point, be rly wish the Analords were available digital. Or, Chosen Lords at the very least. . . . (crying in my face) . .

Shout out to the poster that turned me onto the vinyl master.  It's not that the digital master is bad, but the vinyl master is noticeably better.
