yeah in terms of delegate math, his chances have already been slim-to-impossible after the last few primaries.

on a forward note, im not looking forward to what will sure to be an increasingly ugly campaign, but i also implore fellow bernie supporters to not sit it out or vote for the wrong candidate.. this shitty system is what we're stuck with for the time being, and i implore you to do what is needed to get the cheeto out. Even if his policies may not affect you directly, they do for many others, and if he gets to keep going, his racist policies and authoritarian powergrabs will be much further entrenched in our politics

there's plenty of Bernie supporters that aren't assholes. and Bernie's going to be stumping for Biden soon enough i promise. will he be a turncoat on his own brand then?

but already today i've seen more than a few 'well i'm just not going to vote this time i guess, hope it all burns down, never liked the Democrats anyway fuck'em'

bernie will prove to be a lib in the end and support biden the fucking rapist

not as much of a lib as dems tho.  a hero of modern first world socialism for his movement building

watched this frontline episode last night about china and xian jiang area and surveillance state etc. pretty fucking crazy, sad, scary.. there's a line in there that apparently trump told Xi to "use the tools of dictatorship to crush the fundamentalist muslims" or something like that.. in reference to the Uyghurs. trump so wishes he was a dictator. that's his endgame.. how to be a dictator.  it's a must watch. crazy fucked up shit. next president is going to have to deal w/keeping china's tech from infiltrating USA etc. seems to happening now somewhat under trump and previously obama. but it's gonna get weird and dystopian cyber punk in the next decade.

i'm aware of that. the china frontline episode is about a total surveillance state tested/proof of concept on the Uyghurs in Xiang Jiang region of china. barcodes on front doors of dwellings, checking papers everywhere, cameras everywhere, forcing them to download apps so whenever a cop stops them they can connect their phone to a device that copies all their data and sends it to a database for scanning etc. it's not about the tech not being secure it's about them telling the segment of population that the tech is not working for you.. it's working for the state and you will cubmit to our checks or you will be detained.. and most likely you will be detained anyways because the state is going to erase your culture.

it's off topic anyways.. but is worth watching imo to see what's happening.

alos, this..

That Deanna chick nailed it though. I think the disappointed Bernie voters who think he was our only chance are dumber and more brainwashed than Trump voters at this point.

Yes, they are idiots but I think not on same level as Trump supporters which are either mental disability level dumb or evil

But that was not what they are (and were) saying. He may indeed be the only option to represent what they believe (which is a strong overstatement, if you ask me. He's not that different. Or rather, having him or Biden in the white house wouldn't have made a big difference in terms of leftist policy outcomes), but the argument was about beating Trump.

Was the "Sanders is the only option to win against Trump" empty rhetoric? Is that what you're saying? Just a ploy to get people on board who weren't into Sanders for his policies?

It is.

Some good analysis at 538. Also good at pointing out that some arguments made about Sanders being the only viable alternative to Trump (in terms of strategy. not ideology or anything like that!) might be pretty weak and poorly founded. (again, this his nothing to do with people supporting Sanders for his policies)

@Mesh Gear Fox don't think that's why people get pissed.

as far as i can tell, people get pissed when people say they go third party or don't vote now that sanders is out. that looks more like a result of resentment than anything else. if you're supportive of sanders' his policies, the closest thing to getting those done in 2020 is by supporting biden. like it or not.

and i'm not sure what a real leftist is supposed to look like in US politics, btw. arguably, sanders is not a real leftist either. also not sure why biden would be a fake leftist as he was quite clearly a centrist, or moderate. haven't seen anyone arguing otherwise. although some lost republican might. or a staunch sanders supporter.

in the end though, there's probably plenty people resenting the dem establishment. such that they rather want Trump to win. personally, i think that's a very selfish way of doing politics. and shows some poor moral judgment, imo. but chomsky said it better in that youtube clip a while back: always vote for the least "worse" option. sanders will have more influence on us politics if biden is in the white house, than if trump is. it's really that simple. and going forward, it should be that simple to support biden instead of sanders. but that's by looking at it from a purely policy perspective.
