remember that old, sweet warprecords.com?

let me take you back for a moment:

i remember seeing warprecords.com in its old glory for the first time back in the early 2000s on my friend's computer screen. it was really a piece of art at the time i thought. how creative and colorful, with the _amazing_ logo animation and inventive layout system. looking at it now, i still think the same. think about all the nice websites that are forgotten every time somebody needs to "modernize". really glad archive.org exists and of course, the creators, the designers republic (still rolling with flash-based websites)

do you miss the old?

Oh man, I was thinking about this the other day. I miss FACT and Pitchforks old layouts from the era as well, even if their changes were more subtle.

Resident Adviser and TMT have kept the same format for the most part. Don't fix what ain't broke

I definitely remember it. I also remember coming back almost daily and the rush of excitement I would get when there was a flash of yellow in the column on that page when there would be Aphex Twin news.

I think I liked it because it looked like the HUD from Wipeout 3 (same designers). It definitely got old after a while though.

Their current site makes me move my head back since every label is half the page. Makes it hard to get information quickly.

It's funny you brought this up, as I was considering making a forum theme for here based on the colours/design of the old WARP website from those days...

Good idea? yes/no?

A lot of what TDr did back then in Flash can be done these days with HTML5/Javascript...

The new site may not be a paragon of usability but that old one just looks dated and drab now.

WATMM isn't dying, it's turning into a retirement home where every conversation is about how things were better in the old days. How boring.

TBH, I've found most versions of the Warp site confusing to use. They are not really the ones for clarity and usability.

Oh man. I absolutely remember the 2001 Warp layout. All those undulating cubes, the tabs making a GONK sound when moving the mouse cursor over them, the automatic playing of the featured trac...like when I was first introduced to Brothomstates via Qtio. I was like holy shit

You freaking read my mind about doing a WATMM logo in the WARP style! That's fucking awesome!

Is it animated?

Dope! But is that copyright infringement?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (plus I have asked WARP and they are cool with having a theme here that apes their old layout).

Let's get together and make this happen!
