Do you vape tobacco, cbd, or thc? Thoughts on the recent health concern news & proposed bans?

Anyone quit vaping lately as a result of all the vape related illnesses? A co-worker has decided to quit using his Juul cold-turkey after the recent news.

What are people's thoughts on Trump's proposed bans on flavored vapes?
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/11/health/trump-vaping.html

I'd bought a few THC vapes from a friend recently, all were labeled under the "DANK" vape brand. I had definitely noticed there was a difference in color/consistency between a few of the different flavors, and a co-worker started telling me about how that particular brand is known to have lots of imitations, and knock-offs. I did some more research and it seems the brand is basically a shell company (or doesn't really exist as a singular entity?) that sells the packaging to other manufacturers, and it's VERY unregulated as to how these are made or what goes in them. Shame as I had come to prefer vaping THC as opposed to smoking bud, because it was discreet and I felt like it gave me more control over my high, but not knowing what exactly is in them or where they came from is kind of offputting now especially with the awareness of these issues, which are not limited to just this specific brand, but all THC cartridges.

I'd also been vaping CBD pretty regularly to help with ankle pain, and it's definitely helped. I've done research into each brand I've purchased trying to find credible brands, with just CBD and free of pesticides and other contaminants. I've found a couple brands I believed to be "safe", but all this recent news about the users getting sick from various vaping products has me wondering if I should perhaps quit vaping CBD as well and switch to edibles... It's unclear how this proposed ban will affect CBD products as well.

A strong theory, still being debated is that the illnesses might be linked to vitamin E used in the making of a lot of vape liquids, I'm unsure of the vitamin e content in any of the CBD products so I've been trying to do more research, but because of the controversy over CBD/THC it's hard to find information sometimes. The lack of regulation and standards on many of the products seems to be a HUGE part of the problem, not only because many of the THC and CBD products are manufactured and sold illegally on the street,  but there's a lack of standards and regulations on legal products too because of their controversial nature. Perhaps if this is put into place it will help the push for proper legalization and standards in cannabis products. Tbh, I'm fine with the government all up in my bud business if it ensures me a safer smoke.

Anyone else still vaping tobacco, weed, or CBD? What are your thoughts on all these current issues coming up?

I’ve used a few cartridges of weed oil with a Rubi Pen made by a medical/recreational dispensary in Massachusetts. No issues so far. But I don’t think there have been any incidents in MA yet. I hope good regulations are why they took so long to open...

Just get a dry product vaporiser imo and reduce the introduction of unnecessary variables

Can you get dry product vapes for CBD though? I kinda need to cut back on the THC again, so the CBD is more my main concern, it's nice cause I can discretely use the pen indoors throughout the day working at a casino.

they don't know yet what the ingredient (s) in the vape is/are that are causing the problem. i know people who put a big pause on the weed vaping and are back to smoking weed instead.  seems there's a huge variance in quality but even with that not all the people who've shown up in emergency rooms were vaping some shit that cousin willy produced in the garage...

here's a good no bullshit kind of report that leads me to believe they're a bit far off from figuring it out.

I'm vaping right now. I'm aware it's not safe. It is, however, the way I managed to finally quit cigarettes after 11 years. I use the lowest nicotine content available, an Aegis Legend, and have been vaping the same liquid for over a year.

I think the response to flat-out ban (all non tobacco flavored) vape liquids is beyond stupid. The recent illness outbreak seems to be, so far, largely isolated to the US. That's a big red flag. If vaping in general were the culprit, this would presumably be more widespread and would not have started so suddenly. It's unlikely to be a long term effect of use, as plenty of the people getting sick have been doing it for a year or less. It seems the majority of cases have been linked to vitamin E acetate in THC products, like you said. Not all of them, mind you. The jury is still out, there could be (and likely are) multiple causes. I hope answers come soon.

But banning, instead of regulating, will do no good. It will do two things: create an even bigger homebrew/illicit market, with kitchen chemists supplying themselves and others. Making your own vape liquid is not complicated. It will also push people, like me, back to cigarettes. The fact that not all flavors are being banned - if it's tobacco flavored, it's apparently okay - shows how disingenuous this plan is. If this ban is aiming to save people's lives, then ban it all. If it's to stop kids from vaping, then regulate the industry and make it harder for that group to get their hands on it. Research the effects.

Combustible tobacco kills almost half a million people in the US every year. Vaping has killed six people. Total. This entire "think of the children" crisis is the millenial's Reefer Madness. I get that people don't like vaping. That's fine, I too made fun of my coworkers who did it before I used it to get away from smoking. But banning it wholesale is 100% the wrong answer.

The truth is, yes I am concerned about this rise in illnesses. It freaks me out. But I feel so much better physically now than I did as a smoker. I cannot get over how stupid it is to see the news STILL talking about popcorn lung (not a single instance of this actually happening, and cigarettes have 750 times (!) the amount of diacetal than butter flavored (eugh) vapes) and other such bullshit. I read an article on a health website yesterday that literally said vapes are "full of lead." Straight up lies. I am incredibly disappointed in the reporting on this subject. I'm equally disappointed in the people saying "Trump finally got something right" in response to this obvious attempt to create a political "win" as he flounders around making an ass of himself every other minute.

I'll probably just quit if the ban goes through, that's not really the issue I have. I just hate that this ban is going to make things worse and people are applauding it. Fuck the news for hyping this shit so much and feeding people's fear when what we need is research and regulation.

^^^ there is hysteria as usual w/the media.. of course.  i have a few friends in the business who the top to bottom process for quality weed oils for the vape pens and they don't seem concerned.. they also are informed about how all the shitty stuff is made and added flavors etc and they all stay away from that crap.

i think it's totally possible for some of the bigger makers to put some shitty shit in the vape juice for the nicotine people. doesn't big tobacco own a controlling stake in the juul company or whatever?

anyways.. i think part of the problem is kids are going bananas on the vape shit to make "epic clouds bro" and do vape tricks or whatever and just going hard on that stuff.

I use THC cartidges a few times a month, I've had no issues except at most lingering coughs for a couple days.  Recent news has made me consider switching to flower and only using it a handful of times a year, but I can't really tell whether this is just media bullshit and flower is actually worse because of the obvious real smoke.  Is vaping flower the best now?

got 2 fake ones a few months ago. I assumed they were fake since they tasted like shit and didnt get me high -they were also "Mario Karts" which ive heard 'branded stuff' like that is usually fake. first time thats happened to me.

I usually vape on top of smoking flower or just take a few puffs on the commute or in the bathroom at the movies - so 1gram cart usually lasts me a month or more.

Any CBD brands you'd recommend? I've actually never taken CBD, but have started looking into it since its everywhere now. Also, is an accurate way to describe what you feel like after taking CBD that you can tell you've been affected by something but you're not impaired? I guess I could just try it and find out.

Lazarus Naturals is my go to shop for CBD - but they don't have vapes. Ive been using their tinctures and capsules and RSO. The RSO is the only CBD related product that has knocked me on my ass and made me think I took too much. nothing too crazy just very very mentally lazy the next day. the next day it felt like i could nap at any time but nevr got seriously 'tired'.

I've been using the Funky Farms vape pods a lot, I recommend the Apple Jack Pear or Blueberry Gelato flavors, also currently trying out a Blue Moon Hemp pen, with the Red Devil flavor, which tastes a lot like Hawaiian Punch.

I quit immediately after reading about those deaths. I think I was subconsciously waiting for something like this to crop up and make me quit. I'm weak willed with this kind of stuff and I'd vape all day. First thing I consumed in the morning and last thing before bed, plus throughout the day at work etc. It's just way too convenient causing me to be way too jacked up on nicotine all the time.

I've switched back to cigs, smoke around 5 a day and feel much better than when I was compulsively reaching for the sugary puff stick.

Not sure if it's linked, but I've also gained some much needed weight in the last week, feel fuller and calmer.

The THC vape cartridges in states where it's legal are supposed to be ok, it's the black market oil that likely contains contaminants.
