also: the ceo was having a relationship with an employee, so he's been fired.

as any good capitalist knows though: any publicity is good publicity

I wonder if there was a time when these kinds of incidents were gone as soon as they were corrected.  You would make a mistake, erase it, and it reverts to an unremarkable palimpsest.  Just a routine error that inevitably emerges in the course of life.  Something happened in our enlightened age that made every slip up into the new missile crisis.  I’m wont to label these as the fruits of a Masonic fantasy that’s been indulged unrestrained.  When these are the stories that are brought to our attention, it seems that the real threats are being ignored; and the news stories have been getting more tactless day by day.  The wizards of the world bedazzle Babylon with a relentless pancake of clown paint. ?

Really, though, how can anyone bother to be impressed by a story like that ?  It isn’t natural that someone makes a living by publishing this garbage, and it actually works.  And we’re sitting here looking at it.

The head manager of the McD's I worked at (2nd job) had a thing with my brother's ex when she was an employee there.  She mentioned it in passing at some point when she found out I'd been hired.  His name was also Steve.  Might just be a Steve thing.
