It's mostly just about historical stuff, but it gets repeated. I think most people refer to the fact that Sweden had compulsory sterilisations until 1976 for things like "antisocial lifestyle" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compulsory_sterilisation_in_Sweden

The handling of the various minorities in the past decades like Sami, gypsies and Finns also comes up now and then. And nazi sympathizers in the aristocracy.

I have to say Finland is in no way clean of this shit. We had fucking ethnic cleansing campaigns on Russian soil with concentration camps back in WW2 when Finland was allied with Nazi Germany. And Finland still has compulsory sterilisation for people who change sex by surgery.

There is a darker side to these Nordic "socialist democracies".

Here in Germany people getting fatigued by being careful it seems. When this whole thing started people were barely on the streets, now it's almost back to normal. Might be the nicer weather. Still, death count is rising and all the work that's been done and all the discipline to contain the pandemic right now is on the line. People are getting careless and the situation could soon become the same as in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Das wird alles eskalieren... Zeit zu preppen.

Thought of you @Tim_J when i saw this headline..  Haven't been keeping up with the thread but hope youre well!

thanks for your concerning man...

although i can't complaint, my company is taking really good care of us, we were moved to guest cabins which are pretty big and cool, ship is divided in 3 zones, red, orange and green, to keep track of infected, close contact and not infected crew... we did a quarantine confined to our guest cabins for like 20 days, which i don't really know why it felt like 5 days at least for me, i have lots to entertain myself, laptop, music making, big tv screen, lots of shows and movies to watch on my hd... so now we're almost certainly free of the virus...we have free medical, meals and a place to stay... only 3 people infected went into the hospital and all of them recovered, the rest of the crew with symptoms which stayed on the ship recovered... we were payed a full extra month... right now they're paying some extra to the people who decided that they want to be repatriated through charter flights, i'm one of those who denied cause i wanna stay on board, so i didn't get that extra but honestly i don't really need it that much cause i'm not spending a dime... only good news on my side, i feel pretty privileged right now...

Fehler

Du wähntest dich in Sicherheit

Und warst auch kompromissbereit

Der Fehler der dir unterlief,

Bis Opa dann für immer Schlief

Den dachtest hättst du abgestellt

Und deine Umwelt auch erhellt

Doch nun zeigt sich am Ende dann

Auch du trägst grau beim Sensenmann.

The Swedes are idealistic to the point of self-damage, at least in this question. You can get the impression that by tendency they believe in values more than in pragmatism*. Big question is if the high death count in Sweden is due to a lack of restrictions or if it has to do with flaws in the Swedish healthcare system, or a mixture - if not synergy - of both.

*another example is the drug policies regarding heroin addicts. They refuse to implement the Danish model of safe consumption rooms even though it's evident that it reduces deaths and that recovery from addiction is more likely, causing deaths in Sweden and causing thousands of Swedish heroin and coke addicts to enter Denmark /randomfact

I'm thinking Sweden did some kind of death calculations; shutdown vs. stay open & herd immunity.  If those two numbers weren't that far apart, maybe they said fuck it, we'll take the loss and not hurt our precious economy.

This is fine.

Apparently, they also wait at the end of the Governor's mansion driveway with their rifles slung to try to intimidate and threaten Whitmer.

We don't know if we get immunity. We might for this round. Im reading it attaches to certain receptors throughout the body. Damaging the heart and lungs. Blood clots. It is not the flu. Too much misinformation out there. Being a nocturnal hermit for a while now, I hope it pays off for once

We've become soft. These people then had to deal with ww2 after eating their own children

in history class in i think jr high.. so i'd be 12 or 13.. the teacher showed us a film of starving soldiers.. russian and german.. and one guy caught a rabbit and just started eating it. he broke it's neck or something and just tore into it and started taking bites.

the stories of the  siege of Leningrad are fucking horrific. there was lot's of eating of the humans after a while.

Dozed in the sun most of y’day afternoon. Book didn’t get blitzed, but god that was peaceful.

So much bird song round here currently, seriously tempted to do some recordings.
