was wondering if perhaps anyone might be interested in some free cd-rs, as i realize that might be a better way to spread music rather than asking people to download it.

SO, me and a few friends did compilation, around 10-12 tracks. want to get it out, and was wondering who all might be interested in some free music?

thing is, shipping charges would probably start to add up and i was wondering. would a 1-2 dollars shipping fee via paypal prevent many people from actually getting this? not really sure what to do. maybe set up a paypal donations account?

anyway yeah, advice/opinions would be nice.

I think it depends how much cds you want to distribute.

If you are going to do a lot it's probably better to make it free, you'll get more people ordering one and forgetting about it but the chances of someone hearing it who's actually interested are bigger.

If you want to do more focused distribution it wuld be okay to ask a buck for shipping but you'll get less requests for a cd.

Does this make sense?

consider alternative formats to generate more interest, perhaps cd-rw?

p.s. oh, and i've been wondering this myself. maybe ask for donations to cover shipping? so make it optional?

I think optional donations are only feasable if you expect a lot of interest, although there might be quite some people willing to pp you a buck.

R-W would be a very expensive alternative IMHO, and you might get a lot of people ordering just because they want a r-w.

Maybe tapes?

I would if it wasn't paypal. I think paypal ate my account with them.

I know alot of people hate paypal so perhaps also thinking of another method with which to pay you would be my advice.

What other methods are there besides paypal?
