  1. Cohesive statement of an album, I haven't heard a better LP this year. Ridiculous production and melody writing!
  2. Sucks about the record. Was there any mention of the sales needing to reach a critical threshold when it the pressing was originally announced?
  3. that DUNE logo on the record sleeve is brilliant. Fantastic design
  4. Enjoyed the listening event earlier while working in the garden. Hilarious how fast the chat was moving, but I saw a few familiar names pop up The album sounds really excellent and I look forward to some more focused listens soon. Akkranen (I think it was called) stood out to me.
  5. Oh traveller tell us what you have seen in the world beyond the veil of light that few dare to cross...
  6. The Banjo Kazooie sound font Heliospan cover is phenomenal, as is Rhubarb with the Ocarina of Time vocal pad!
  7. I saw SP for the first, and last, time on November 27th at The Fillmore in SF. A theatre of absurdity, crushing intensity, great track selection! Glad to have experienced it. 72284118728__4091CDBC-10E3-476D-8324-01CFB1CA6A67.HEIC
  8. Great listen, he's grounded and in it for the art. I'm enjoying the LP as well!
  9. "STRAWBERRRRRY JAM GIRL" is the most Karl Hyde lyric ever lol
  10. They do! Sean also mentions his love for 'Acid Eiffel' which was a nice surprise! Phenomenal interview overall. Love the compositonal insights, and how they both describe this ambiguous emotional state that this sort of music can elicit.
  11. Apparently there is unreleased material that may be put out one day: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/aug/30/brian-mcbride-the-stars-of-the-lid-musician-who-lit-up-the-ambient-firmament
  12. https://pitchfork.com/news/stars-of-the-lids-brian-mcbride-dies-at-53/ Never take an artist's work for granted as any album can be their last. SoTL have released some of my favorite music and, while we still have Adam Wiltzie working in the 'A Winged Victory For The Sullen' project, there is a decadence in the SoTL records: a willingness to let a single relatively raw idea simmer and float for a long time in a way that feels relatively unrestrained compared to Winged Victory. I'm forever indebted. RIP
